WELCOME TO ALGEBRA I COMMON CORE SUPPORT
It is important that you understand the basic rules and requirements of this class so that we can all have a successful year together in Algebra I CCS.
REQUIRED CLASS MATERIALS:
o WORKBOOKS & FOLDER --- this is to allow room for all work and handouts
o PENCIL(S) --- you must use a pencil in this class
o SCIENTIFIC CALCULATOR --- a scientific calculator is required, but a graphing calculator is recommended
CLASS PROCEDURES:
o Be in your assigned seat when the bell rings and have all necessary materials with you.
o Begin your Do Now or opening assignment immediately. Do not wait for me to tell you to start!
o Do not leave your assigned seat without permission from the teacher. In particular, do not line up at the door before the bell rings.
o Follow all instructions the first time they are given.
o Most importantly, be respectful of yourself, your classmates, the teacher and school property!
GRADING PROCEDURES:
o Your marking period grade will be determined as indicated below. Individual category grades will be determined by the sum of your earned points ÷ total possible points.
Classwork/Preparedness 60%
ALEKS 40%
o Classwork/Preparedness: This grade will be based upon your effort to come to class prepared and to complete all assigned classwork. Classwork assignment points will be determined based upon the magnitude of each assignment.
o We will be spending time in the computer lab each week to complete ALEKS assignments.
OTHER IMPORTANT INFORMATION:
o All assignments must be turned in on time. Late assignments will result in a reduction in grade. Be sure the work you turn in is your own!
o If you are absent, it is your responsibility to see that all work is made up. Do NOT wait until weeks after you missed an assignment or until the end of the marking period to ask about making up work --- you are allowed one day to make up work for every day you are absent (school policy)!
o Always come to class with a positive attitude! It will make class a lot more fun and enjoyable for everyone!
