Many thanks to those people who have “stepped up” and volunteered for a position on the committee, the club could not function without you.
At the conclusion of the election of officers Karen Abbey requested that we consider the position of Club Coach, and in particular nominated Sean Hendry (who is transferring from Mollymook) for that position. While discussion was had about whether there is a coach’s position in the Club’s constitution, it was agreed that having a coach can only be positive and beneficial for the Club and that if there is no coaches’ position that it be now added to the list of Club Officers. The nomination was moved by Karen Abbey and seconded by Sheena Anderson and Sean Hendry was duly elected.
General Business
- Mitch Pakes reminded us that the club celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year and we need to start organising a celebration and we need to set a date for the occasion. Steve Jones suggested that it be a formal occasion and that it be held at Worrigee House. More ideas to be put forward please.
- Gina Thornton proposed that we hold committee meetings on Sunday after nippers during the season taking into account that most of us are there anyway. Although at present the meetings are held on the third Tuesday of the month that this is not set in stone and we can be flexible with meeting times.
- Col Pakes reminded us that we will require Life Jackets for all IRB operations starting this season, the Life Jackets have been ordered and will arrive in September. Also that the blue ATV is currently being serviced and that it will probably only last another 2 seasons.
- Col also stated that the youngest IRB is 12 years old and that we will need new boats very soon, it would be advisable to get “Rigid Hulled” IRB’s.
- Brad Lilly said that the web site is up and running.
Meeting Closed at 5.10pm
