Corporate Engagement Specialist

JOB FUNCTION

The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee is seeking to fill an AmeriCorps position to mobilize and connect skilled volunteers from the corporate sector to bridge capacity gaps in the nonprofit sector – primarily in high-impact areas such as board governance, marketing/communications, accounting, human resources and IT.

In addition to building a base of skilled volunteers from the corporate sector, an essential role for this position will be to assist in providing assessment, training, tools and technical assistance to nonprofits to strengthen capacity to leverage skill-based volunteers.

Works closely with and reports to the CEO.

This position operates in the broader context of the Nonprofit Center mission: The Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, Inc. is a catalyst, promoting the interests and enhancing the effectiveness of the nonprofit sector in southeast Wisconsin.

RESPONSIBILITIES

·  Collaborate in evaluation and assessment of nonprofit organizational capacity to determine skilled-volunteer needs.

·  Participate in and/or lead initiatives engaging corporations in the nonprofit sector, such as the Giving Tree program.

·  Develop and maintain comprehensive list of skilled volunteer opportunities at NPC Member organizations.

·  Guided by the Service Enterprise management model - and with the support of site supervisor – provide assessment, training, tools and technical assistance to nonprofits to strengthen capacity to leverage skill-based volunteers.

·  Retain and grow a base of skill-based volunteers in IT, marketing/communications, accounting, HR and board governance from a list of prospects.

·  Day-to-day maintenance of skill-based volunteer activities including outreach, recruitment, training, appreciation, materials development, memorandum of understanding, and event coordination.

·  Promote the engagement of skill-based volunteers at NPC

·  Maintain program records, ongoing assessments and submit monthly reports using an online database system with support from site supervisor

·  Participate in grant-writing and communications in support of Corporate Engagement Program.

·  Represent NPC at conferences, events and meetings that advance the organization’s interest in engaging the corporate sector.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required. A degree in a social service field is preferred, but not essential.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

·  Ability to work independently

·  Interact effectively with people from diverse backgrounds

·  Effective communicator both verbally and in writing

·  Enthusiasm for volunteerism and the impact it can have on the community and ability to share that enthusiasm with others

·  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications (especially Word, Excel, Outlook 365, PowerPoint) and web-based applications

·  Ability to handle multiple tasks, meet deadlines and problem-solve issues in a fast-paced environment

·  Technical aptitude for learning new applications

·  Demonstrated customer service skills and aptitude

·  Ability to work well both independently and on a team

·  Ideal candidate will be assertive, collaborative and flexible, with a sense of humor and integrity.

AMOUNT OF TRAVEL REQUIRED: Local travel is likely, and some travel around the state may be required; occasional evening or weekend work required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to move quickly and frequently within the facility. Occasional packaging and lifting up to 50 pounds. Valid driver’s license and daily access to a car.
