The purpose of this conference is to highlight the importance ofCNS practice in enhancing outcomes for a variety of stakeholders. Abstracts are sought that describe the importance of clinical nurse specialists in the current healthcare climate and to envisionopportunities to expand, promote, and articulate CNS practice for the future.
Submit an Abstract for Podium or Poster Presentation
Registered nurses, advanced practice nurses, managers, quality improvement professionals, educators, and researchers are invited to submit abstracts consistent with the theme of the 2012 NW CNS Conference. Abstracts concerning the following are particularly sought:
- Clinical nurse specialists in collaborative, leadership and project management roles
- Evidence-based quality improvement for nursing practice
- Data showing improved client, nurse or system outcomes related to CNS practice or other
quality improvement efforts
- Patient safety and performance improvementin a variety of health care settings
- Innovative solutions to system-level problems in health care
- Projects demonstrating the value added by clinical nurse specialists in health care settings
Guidelines for Submission
- Abstracts may reflect work that has been completed within the past two(2) years or work in progress. Work in progress is typically selected for poster presentation.
- Abstracts may be accepted for either a poster presentation or a 30-minute oral presentation
- Abstract submission deadline: April 15, 2012
- Email submissions with all required documents (see below) to

- One copy of the abstract (MS Word format) with identifying information.
- One copy of the abstract (MS Word format) without identifying information.
- NW CNS conference biosketch form.
- Completed Disclosure form.
- Three (3) learning objectives for your presentation.

Abstract Title: Maximum 120 characters (including spaces) – bolded.
Authors: List in order: Last name, first initial of all authors followed by institution of first author. Omit all degree and titles. Do not bold.

Presentations will be competitively selected on the basis of contribution to knowledge, scientific rigor, and relevance to the theme of the conference. The first author of both podium and poster presentations will receive a discounted registration fee and will pay only ½ the cost of registration. Poster presentations will be on display throughout the day of the conference and scheduled poster sessions will allow for participants to meet and talk with the poster presenters.
Presenters will be notified of acceptance by: June 1, 2012.
