Job Title:Voluntary Service Coordinator (part-time)

Volunteer Driving Scheme

Responsible to:Centre Manager

Probation: 6 months

Salary:Scale 6 (spinal points 26-28)

£25,515-£27,009 pro rata including L.W.

Hours: 18/35 hours worked over 3 days per week

Within the core hours of 10am to 4pm

Holidays: 5 weeks pro rata

Purpose of Role:

To coordinate and administrate a voluntary driving servicefor disabled and/or vulnerable residentswho live within theBorough of Lewisham.To develop the project’s potential for growth both in service provision and funding resources. To work within a small team to ensure the organisations core aims and activities are effective,qualitive and timely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and match journey requests from referral agencies using the VCC criteria and procedures.
  • Recruit, select, train and support volunteer drivers in accordance with VCC practices and procedures and to work with the team to organise and/or to facilitate group support sessions for all volunteers.
  • Prepare, process and record volunteer expense claims, service user contribution and referrers invoices and carry out general office duties including communication/correspondence, write reports, maintain paper filing and electronic information storing systems.
  • Produce and disseminate the projects publicity and information materials
  • Monitor the service for quality, reliability and equal opportunities/social inclusion and to produce project statistic.

External Relationships & Project Development.

  • Represent the organisation at external meetings and events, deliver presentations publicising and promoting VCC services and opportunities to raise the organisation’s profile within the Borough.
  • Identify project development needs and opportunities, research potential funding sourcesfor project service enhancement; liaise/network with appropriate voluntary or statutory agencies to facilitate opportunities for partnership working and joint funding bids.
  • Work with the Centre Manager to make appropriate development proposals to the Management Committee and to work in collaboration with team members to prepare potential funding bids.
  • In the absence of the Manager share with the other Voluntary Service Coordinators responsibility for management and overall functioning of the Voluntary Care Centre.

General

  • Flexibility is necessary; you must be able to work out-of hours/evenings and weekends as required, for which time off in lieu will be given.
  • Attend training courses and meetings as determined by and/or agreed with the Manager.
  • Deliver services within an Equal Opportunities framework taking positive action where necessary.
  • To undertake any other duties as may be required to ensure the smooth running of volunteer projects, centre activities and administration.
