ANNUAL SCIENCE QUIZ CONTEST 2010-11

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

Fill in the application along with Performa and send it to us on or before 12th February 2011.

ENTRY FEE

A registration fee Rs.100/- will be charged for each team for the Pvt./Public schools. The fee can be deposited in cash at the Cashier Counter of National Science Centre between 10:30 am & 4:00 pm (except lunch hours i.e. from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm) on any working days. The details of the cash receipt should be filled in the Performa for participation before submission to Education Cell of the Centre.

RULES AND REGULATIONS:

1.  The contest will be held among different school teams represented by only one team of Two STUDENTS each.

2.  The contest is open for students from 8th to 10th standard only. Once the names of the students are registered no changes will be allowed in the team constitution except in unavoidable circumstances and with prior permission before preliminary round stage.

3.  The Written contest & verbal rounds will be conducted in English/Hindi. The written test will be of one-hour duration.

4.  Questions will be based on secondary school curricula of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics and General Science as well as logical reasoning and scientific aptitude. Awareness of current issues in science and knowledge of exhibits in Centre will also be adjudged.

ORGANIZATION OF THE CONTEST

1.  All the registered teams will appear for a written elimination Test, if required.

2.  The top 18 teams (if required) selected in the written test will be eligible for the verbal rounds.

3.  Schools may nominate only one team of TWO students for the Science quiz contest (Written & Verbal Both). Participants are required to bring their own hard/clip board/pen for written round.

4.  There will be 03 semi final rounds among six teams each. The best two winner teams from each semi final level will compete in the final round. That means best six teams will compete in the final round according to the format decided by the Centre. There will be total five rounds in this quiz.

5.  Each contest will be held among six teams in semi-final and final rounds. There will be different rounds such as oral, audio-visuals, experiment-based questions etc. The time, points allotted and the order of asking the questions or passing them may be different for each of these rounds and will be explained at the time of contest.

6.  In case of a tie between contestants, new sets of questions will be put in pairs so as to give equal opportunity to each contesting team, until the tie breaks.

7.  A single unequivocal, clear (intelligible) answer given by any of the team members in the first attempt will be considered as their final answer. Participants are requested to discuss among themselves before they give their FINAL answer.

8.  The Quiz- Master’s decision will be final and binding.

NOTE

1.  All the contests will be held at National Science Centre, Pragati Maidan, New Delhi according to a predetermined schedule.

2.  The result of the written test will be declared same day at 1:00 pm and semi-final round may be conducted on the same day.

3.  Participants must present themselves at least 15 minutes before the contest starts, failing which they may lose their chance.

4.  Written test will be held on 18th February 2011 at 10.30 hrs.

5.  Final round for selected teams will be held on 19th February 2011 at 10.30 hrs.
