Course Requirements and Rules

Welcome to Global History I and Geography! Global History I is the first part of a two year course that begins with Neolithic Revolution and ends with the French Revolution. Topics include the Roman Empire, Crusades, Chinese Dynasties, and the Age of Exploration. In order to make the most of your Global History I course, there are a few rules and requirements to keep in mind.

I.  ATTENDANCE:

·  You are expected to be in class on time everyday.

·  If you are late more than 3 times without a pass you will receive a referral.

·  If you have more than 18 unexcused absences you will not receive credit for the class.

·  It is your responsibility to get your notes and announcements that you miss when you are absent.

II.  EXAMINATIONS AND PROJECTS:

·  You will receive unit tests, quizzes, essays, and projects throughout the school year. There will also be a midterm and final exam. The days for these exams will be announced in advance. Projects will be assigned throughout the school year.

·  No Extra Credit

·  You may all reach me at if you have any additional questions.

III.  NATIONAL HISTORY DAY:

Theme: Exploration, Encounter, Exchange in History

You will receive more information about this project at a later date.

IV.  NOTEBOOKS / SUPPLIES / AND HOMEWORK:

·  A standard 3 ring loose-leaf binder is required and must be brought to class everyday.

·  The notebook should be set up with 2 sections.

1.  Classroom notes and worksheets

2.  Homework

·  A blue/ black pen or a pencil is required everyday.

·  Homework assignments must have the correct heading including the homework number, and should be written on loose-leaf paper, not ripped out of a spiral notebook.

·  No late homework accepted!

IV.  GRADING PROCEDURE:

·  Your report card grade will be calculated as follows:

o  Tests: 70%

o  Quizzes, Projects, Class work 20%

o  Homework 10%

o  During the second quarter, students will take a departmental midterm worth 20% and hand in their National History Day Project worth 20%

o  At the end of the year the students will take a final exam worth 1/5 of their class grade.

V. EXTRA HELP:

·  Every Tuesday after school and before exams. Please contact me if you would like additional extra help.

VI. CELL PHONE USE:

·  You may not use your cell phone in class.
