Christian Honemeyer now sole managing director of MTI Mischtechnik

Experienced management team ensures continuity

Detmold, March 2010

There has been a changing of the guard at MTI Mischtechnik:with effect from the end of February 2010, Christian Honemeyer is the sole managing director of the Detmold-based manufacturer of mixing and processing equipment for the polymer processing and chemical industries. His appointment follows the retirement of his father, Rolf Honemeyer, one of the founders of the company 35 years ago, who will continue to act in an advisory role for the company and will also remain as a shareholder. Over the last ten years he had shared leadership of the company with his son Christian, a period which saw MTI Mischtechnik develop into the company of the size and scale it is today. Christian Honemeyer will continue to concentrate on the commercial leadership and management of the company. Two recently-appointed directors will join the management team: Ulrich Schär, who oversees sales, customer service and process engineering, and Detlef Lapp, an employee of the company for twenty years, with responsibility for production.

As Christian Honemeyer comments: “On behalf of all the employees at MTI Mischtechnik, I would like to thank my father for his commitment which helped us achieve the commercial success we enjoy today, and for his willingness to continue sharing his vast experience to the benefit of the company. The success he has achieved represents both an incentive and an obligation to my teamand myself to continue his good work. Working in close cooperation with our customers, we are continuously developing new and innovative products, which, in the future, will set themselves even further apart from the competition in terms of performance, energy- and cost-efficiency. Our recently-launched MTI ECO-line heating-/cooling mixer combination constitutes a significant step in this direction.”

35 years of experience in mixing technology

In 1976, just one year after the foundation of the company, MTI developed its first, ground-breaking horizontal cooling-mixer, which, as with subsequent machine concepts, would soon go on to have major sales success. In 1987, MTI issued a production license to the Japanese firm TSK, thus securing a market share in the Far East. 1990 saw the move to a new facility in Detmold with over 6,000m2 of office and production space. A year later, in 1991, MTI founded Mixing Technology, Inc., in the USA and quickly established itself as leading producer of polymer processing equipment in the US market. From 2000 onwards, leadership of the company was shared between Rolf Honemeyer and his son Christian. 2009 saw the start of a strategic alliance with Exline, Inc., in the USA and the move of Mixing Technology, Inc., to Salina, KS/USA. In the same year, the 100 percent family-owned company achieved a signification milestone, despite testing economic circumstances: its equity ratio reached approximately 50 percent, thereby confirming the company’s stable overall concept.TodayMTI Mischtechnik employs around 70 people at its Detmold headquarters and produces annually in the region of 70 vertical high-speed mixers, horizontal cooling-mixers, heating-/cooling mixer combinations, universal mixers, container mixers and laboratory mixers, as well as tailored customer applications.
