CURRENT SANCTION AND INSURANCE INFORMATION

A USATF sanction is a document which licenses the holding of a running, racewalking, or track and field competition. All sanctioned events and member clubs participating in sanctioned events are covered by USATF's General Liability insurance policy; the coverage is $2 million per occurrence. For detailed info on coverage, request a brochure.

An "elite event" is one which awards MORE than $500 prize money per athlete or is a national championship or invites foreign competitors. For such events, an elite sanction addendum must also be submitted.

The organization which applies for the sanction is automatically covered by definition of the sanction. This includes its officers, directors, employees, volunteers, coaches, and officials. Proof of this coverage is the approved application signed by the Association sanctions chairman.

The applicant may request that a "third party" be included as "additional insured" under the event's coverage (cities, parks, counties, property owners, and sponsors). THIRD PARTIES AND SPONSORS ARE NOT COVERED WITHOUT A CERTIFICATE. VEHICLE LIABILITY IS NOT INCLUDED IN THIS COVERAGE.

CERTIFICATE REQUESTS: The sanction applicant must fill out a request form for each third party needing to be covered. Submit the sanction application and certificate requests at least 20 days BEFORE CERTIFICATES ARE NEEDED. USATF requires late fees for last-minute requests: those made within 5 business days of the "date certificate needed" will be charged $10; those made within 36 hours will be charged $25. PNTF may also charge a late fee.

FEE SCHEDULE: Two fees are required; the local fee stays with us, and the national fee is paid to USATF when certificates are requested. Payment must accompany the application based on estimated numbers of participants. Actual totals will be reported later. Make one total check to PNTF.
