Toonz Harlequin is a 2D animation software for traditional and paperless animation productions, providing state-of-the-art tools for endless creative possibilities and allowing animators to follow their personal approach to computer-assisted animation fast-forwarding tedious and time-consuming steps.
For the traditional workflow based on paper drawings, it is possible to use Toonz Harlequin to scan drawings, to clean them up to set a proper registration, and to do a full ink & paint process with color models and palette colors that can be edited at any time, updating automatically all the level drawings.
In paperless productions, it is possible to draw in a digital light table environment both vector or raster and define character models with skeleton, creating a puppet, or animate drawings using the Plastic tool based on mesh deformation.
Scenes can be composited by moving and animating animation levels and character models over background elements according to the xsheet; pegbars and camera can be moved to create more complex shots, also in a 3D environment with an automatic multiplane effect; special FX, chosen among a very wide set including a particles engine, can be added; then sequences of frames and clips can be rendered out in the format and resolution required by the production, and a render farm is available to distribute the rendering job on the whole network.
Production material can be easily stored and retrieved for a quick reuse, from one studio to another as well, and version control system is integrated both to store the database on a central repository while editing your local working copy, and to track the file history and retrieve previous revisions for every file.
Available for Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8, running on 64-bit processors as well with dramatically improved software performance, and for Mac OS X running on Intel processors, with support for cross-platform projects.
