Calvary Graveyard Committee

The annual Mass will take place on Friday 23rd of June at 8pm. The County Council will provide barrels from Thursday 15th of June until Thursday 22nd of June for the disposal of old wreaths. There is still a huge amount of old flowers, wreaths, Christmas wreaths, jars and pots just being dumped around the graveyard, this is a health and safety issue for the person cutting the grass because of flying glass. Please take your rubbish home as this issue is undoing all the good work that has been done. There will be restricted parking – anyone who is sick or infirm can drive into the graveyard but we ask that you wait until the people on foot have left first.

Pilgrimage to Knock

The annual St. Joseph’s Young Priests Society Pilgrimage to Knock takes place on Saturday 24th June. The bus leaves Thomastown at 7.30 am and arrives back that evening at 10.30 p m approx. The cost of the bus is €20. If interested, please contact Mary O’Carroll at 9724415.

We are currently in the planning stages of organizing Christmas 2017. After the success of last year’s main event for our children we are once again aiming for a magical and special festival.

We need you to keep supporting Split the Pot so we can make this happen and to be in a position to continue with the town Christmas lights project again this year.

The Christmas lights require a lot of our time and are very costly. We would like to ensure they continue to be erected every year going forwards.

Graiguenamanagh branch is adopting the ‘Advice & Self Service’model from 2nd August 2017. This is already in place in some locations nationwide. Advice & Self Service branches continue to provide customers with a comprehensive range of products and services, access to online and 365 phone services, the ability to lodge and withdraw cash from easy to use self-service machines. They also enable greater availability of branch staff to provide personalised financial and banking advice. Foreign currency exchange and coin transaction services will no longer be available in this branch from 2nd August 2017.

Our customers are rapidly changing the way they bank, just as they are changing the way they buy goods or services online and communicate with each other. Today, only 3% of our customers’ total transactions are conducted over the counter – 97% of all transactions take place through other channels. For example, every month, we have eight million interactions with our customers on our mobile app, whilst the use of credit and debit card and contactless banking continues to grow – consequently, demand for cheques, foreign currency and coin services continues to significantly reduce.

We continue to invest in and improve our customer offerings. Alongside our existing external lodgement device we have added an internet kiosk into the Graiguenamanagh branch, where customers will be able to conduct online banking within the branch. Implementation of these changes is taking place on a phased basis with a two-month period for comprehensive customer notification, and Bank of Ireland will be on hand to support our customers with these changes.

·  Outdoor Sports and Recreation QQI Level 5

This course equips successful candidates with the experience and qualifications to instruct people in outdoor sports, including canoeing, hillwalking and biking among other sports. The area of outdoor recreation is one that has increased in popularity in Graiguenamanagh over the past number of years, and graduates can set up their own business, or work part or full time for existing businesses.

·  Creative Media QQI Level 5

This course includes modules in animation, drawing and digital photography, among other subjects. It prepares students to work in the areas of art and animation, areas that Kilkenny is particularly strong in. It is also a very good course to use as a foundation course to enter Third Level Art courses (we have progression agreements with LIT, WIT and Carlow IT). Graduates of this course can also progress to our Level 6 Visual Art course.

·  Visual Art QQI Level 6

Successful graduates will have the skills and qualifications to go directly into the workplace, in business and office environments. It is also an excellent course for school leavers, as a way to gain computer skills before they set off for college.
