2016 Player Age Definition
- Effective for the 2016 fall season (June 2015 tryouts)
- Will use January 1 as cutoff for age determination
- Player born October 12 2003 currently is a U12 and would play U13 for the 2016-17 seasonal year using the old/exiting rule.
- However, the new rule will use the player’s birth year, 2003; player would be U14 for the 2016-17 season seasonal year.
- MSYSA is suggesting that current teams play the 2016-17 seasonal year two years “older”
- A U13 team in 2015-16 would become a U15 team in 2016-17
- Players identified as U15 for the 2016-17 seasonal year who are not in high school will lose one-half of their season
- The DOC presentation from MSYSA will be posted to our website
