MTN EMAIL MEMO COVER

30 October 2013

  1. Reminder: AHA NEW REQUIREMENTS (refer to attached MTN Memo-New 2013 Instructor Course requirements & Materials, 22 May 13.pdf)
  1. Effective 30 August 2013, all TS must utilize the new 2013 discipline-specific AHA Instructor Course materials. The Core Instructor Course and all associated instructor materials are now obsolete and no longer authorized. The new online AHA Instructor Essentials (IE) courses, one for each discipline, have replaced the Core Instructor Course.
  1. All PD and TSF must complete the new discipline-specific AHA Instructor Essentials module before teaching their first course with the new materials or performing course monitoring. Each person will have a valid Instructor Essentials certificate prior to teaching any of the discipline specific courses.
  1. SPECIAL PERMISSION: 2013 INSTRUCTOR ESSENTIALS GROUP COURSES (refer to attached 2013Oct MTN Instructor Essentials Online Group Course Memo)
  1. Effective immediately, every MTN TS has permission to perform group sessions in place of requiring individual online sessions. Purchase and use of a new key will be required for each group session.
  2. TS will create an individual MTN Instructor Essentials Certificate of Completion and provide it to each participant. A certificate template is attached.
  3. MTN staff providing training outside of the MTN network will have to arrange for their own AHA online training. The MTN Instructor Essentials Certificate of Completion will not be accepted outside of MTN; it is for DoD use only. It will however, be accepted by all other MTN TS.
  4. Program Director TSF card renewal packages and new instructor packages must contain a copy of the Instructors Essentials Course certificate (either AHA online or MTN group session).
  5. Current Instructors DO NOT have to take the new Instructor Essentials (IE) course as long as instructor status remains current. When instructor certification lapses or ends, the discipline specific IE course must be competed to reattain instructor status.

  2. All reports are processed in the order received.
  3. Reports will be rejected and returned to you if they are on the old forms or if they are not signed. The current form is available at http://www.usuhs.edu/mtn
