Here you will have your QR code scanned and receive your volunteer t-shirt. As part of National Building Museum security procedures, please be prepared to show ID to the guards when you arrive

Information about your duties:

  • The Expo will be open from 9:00am to 5:00pm - Please be on time!
  • You will be responsible for distributing shirts to runners. This includes checking the runners bib for the type of shirt they ordered (i.e. standard cotton, performance upgrade and size), handing out the appropriate shirt as printed on their bib, and marking their bib with a sharpie indicating the runner has picked up their shirt. The marking is necessary to ensure that each runner only gets one shirt (sometimes runners try to get two).
  • If the runner purchased an upgraded shirt, the bib will be marked accordingly. The upgraded shirt isin lieu ofreceiving a standard cotton shirt. Only one shirt per runner bib.
  • If a runner requests a different size shirt please send them to T-shirt exchange (no shirt substitutionsare to be done at T-shirt distribution).
  • If a runner wants to purchase an extra or upgrade shirt please send them to the CUCB store to check for availability.
  • The runner can pick up for a friend provided the runner has a note from the friend authorizing the runner to pick up the friend’s race packet and shirt.
  • Assist in maintaining an even traffic flow by directing runners to the appropriate table to pick up their t-shirt.
  • If you are running in the race and need to pick up your packet, I would ask that you do so after your shift.
  • Please be aware that we do not have the space or security to watch purses or backpacks. Travel lightly.
  • You might want to bring a handy snack and/or beverage as there may not be time for a break.
  • Remember to wear comfortable shoes and get ready to have fun; It will be busy but fun!

If you have any questions, please email me r call me on my cell phone 703-798-4489. I will be your main point of contact so please feel free to send me any questions or concerns as they arise.

If your plans have changed and you are unable to volunteer, please email with the subject line “volunteer cancel” and she will remove you from the volunteer list.
