Football
On Monday 21st March, Years 5 and 6 Cage Green Football Club played in the annual Tonbridge and District Football Tournament. Altogether 12 schools took part with a total of 17 teams competing. Cage Green fielded 2 teams from both Years 5 and 6.
Cage Green (A) finished runners up in a tough group losing only once to Capel and beating Hildenborough (A), Slade and Four Elms (B). They qualified for the quarter finals to face Woodlands (A).
Cage Green (B) topped their group beating all their opponents who were Hadlow (A), East Peckham and Long Mead. They qualified with maximum points to face Woodlands (B) in the quarter finals.
Cage Green (A) beat Woodlands (A) on penalties after a very close fought game. The penalties went to sudden death which added to the excitement. Cage Green (A) went through to face Capel again in the semi finals.
Cage Green (B) beat Woodlands (B) on penalties
to go through to meet St Margarets (A) in the semi finals!
Isobel Ellis, ‘A’ team player, reports the following:
‘I really enjoyed the thrill of the tournament. It was tremendous. Even when I fell over, or they scored the first goal I was very happy. We cheered for the ‘B’ team and they cheered for us. One of the best things, even better than winning, was being able to represent such a good team from such a good school
When we found out we had got through to the quarter final I was so excited, but that was soon turned into sadness because we had lost to Slade and we were out.
I owe all my thanks to Jackie and Lizzy for letting me take part in such a brilliant experience. Thank you guys.’

Thank you and Goodbye to
Jackie Pullen and Lizzie Harlock
Jackie and Lizzie have supported the netball team for many years and with their guidance, encouragement and enthusiasm have helped the / Cage Green (A) beat Capel 1-0 in another close game. They qualified for the final, amazing!
Cage Green (B) still remained unbeaten in the tournament when they faced last year’s winners, St Margarets. This was again another exciting match which ended up with Cage Green (B) winning on penalties and qualifying for the final.
It was to be an all Cage Green final, Cage Green (A) versus Cage Green (B)! This was another thrilling match with all parents and supporters showing encouragement and support for all children involved. The final score was 3-0 to Cage Green (A).
Winning the final and finishing runners up in the same tournament is a huge achievement for all the children involved. They have worked hard at training every week and all that hard work has been rewarded. Well done!

school’s netball teams win
various tournaments. Jackie and Lizzie have decided to retire as netball coaches now and although we will miss them we send them our very best wishes for their future happiness and success
We received a telephone call yesterday morning from Capel School, who passed on their
congratulations to the Football teams and said “thank you to the boys for their gentlemanly conduct, the best behaved in the Tournament”
We often receive feedback after ‘off-site’ events that Cage Green children are so well behaved. So, thank you and well done to everyone.
A huge thank you to all parents
and carers who showed their support and helped with transportation to and from the event. All that is left to say is congratulations to all the children who played; you are a credit to Cage Green Primary School.

‘It was so much fun and we won the first game and we kept on winning until we got to the finals and played the ‘A’ team and they won it. We was all cheering because it was all our school that won. It was a really good experience and a very exciting match’.

Netball
The Netball Teams played with enthusiasm and the ‘A’ team got through to the quarter finals, by winning all their
games. However, unfortunately they were beaten by a very tall team from Slade School!
Hildenborough ‘A’ team
went on to win the tournament.
Own Clothes Day Friday 25 March
In response to Honor Bolton’s kind suggestion to raise funds for the ‘Save the Children Japan Emergency Appeal’, please remember that the children can wear their own clothes on Friday. Please send in £1.00 or more to help the victims of the earthquake in Japan. Thank you.
