Philippe Grohe and Antonio Citterio Introduce a New System of Accessories

Singapore, October 2015. Modular, multi-functional, and universally applicable: for the first time, Axor, the designer brand of Hansgrohe,is introducing a comprehensive system of accessories that consists of handles, bars, and shelf elements – the Axor Universal Accessories. These products can be used individually or as a systems solution in bathrooms, and, to some extent, in kitchens. The collection was developed by the designer brand of Hansgrohe SEand architect/designer Antonio Citterio.

“Out of individual, high-qualitycomponents visually appealing and harmonious accessory solutions are born. These can be re-arranged or complemented by adding more components if the need arises. This means, customizing room designs becomes much simpler”, says Philippe Grohe, Head of Axor.

Small Jewels Refine the Bathroom

“Accessories have a significant effect on the overall appearance of a room; they are an essential part of its décor. When I design something, I strive to create products that are both functional and aesthetically pleasing. For instance, bars inside the shower function as a support for other accessories and serve as towel bars outside the shower”, explains Antonio Citterio.

Timeless, elegant design combined with outstanding workmanship distinguishesthe twelve Axor Universal Accessories. Clean lines and generous surfaces indicate high worth; smoothcontours and soft curves embody elegance and are pleasing to the touch. High-quality materials such as chrome-plated metal, mirrored and white glass,not only contribute to durability and hygiene, but are also easy to clean. In addition, the Axor Universal Accessories harmonize with several Axor fixture collections andvarious bathroom décors. Special customer requests are handled by the in-house Axor Manufaktur – a manufactory that individualizes standard products. For example, Axor Universal Accessories are available in fifteen highly scratch- and cleanser-resistant PVD-treated surface finishes, polished or brushed:chrome, gold optic, red gold, black chrome, nickel or bronze.

The grandson of the company's founder Hans Grohe was born in 1967 in Switzerland. After studying photography and international marketing, he completed several special projects in the US before taking over as director of the French distribution subsidiary Hansgrohe S.à.r.l. in 1997. Since 2001 he has been the head of Hansgrohe's designer brand Axor at the company's headquarters in Schiltach in the Black Forest. In his free time the passionate photographer enjoys playing squash, diving and surfing.

Antonio Citterio was born in Meda in 1950, started his design office in 1972, and graduated in architecture at the Milan Polytechnic in 1975.Between 1987 and 1996 he worked in association with Terry Dwan and, together, they created buildings in Europe and Japan. In 1999, with Patricia Viel, he founded “Antonio Citterio and Partners”. The firm operates at international level developing complex long-term projects, at all scales and in synergy with a qualified network of specialist consultants. Antonio Citterio is currently working in the industrial design sector with Italian and foreign companies such as Ansorg, Arclinea, Axor-Hansgrohe, B&B Italia, Flexform, Flos, Fusital, Hermès, Iittala, Inda, Kartell, Maxalto, Sanitec Group - Pozzi Ginori, Technogym, Tre Più and Vitra. In 1987 and in 1995 Antonio Citterio received the Compasso d’Oro-ADI award. Since 2006 he has been an architectural design instructor at the Università della Svizzera Italiana, Academy of Architecture in Mendrisio. In September 2009 the architectural office changed its name to “Antonio Citterio Patricia Viel and Partners.
