Jailbreak 2016 Terms and Conditions

• You agree to pay a signup fee of £15 (for each person in the team) if you sign up by Wednesday 2 December and £20 (for each person in the team), which covers insurance and T-shirt costs. This is non-refundable after close of signups (Friday 22nd January).

• You commit to a minimum fundraising target of £200 per person.

• Your entry will only be finalised on receipt of the signed application form/disclaimer, along with a fundraising deposit of £50 per person. The £50 registration fee per person will only be cashed under the following circumstances:

• Withdrawal from Jailbreak for any reason other than medical

• Failure to reach minimum sponsorship target

• As requested by the team (e.g. Team stuck in a foreign country without access to cash)

• Other shortcomings as the committee deem appropriate

• All sponsorship money must be handed in by 27th April, at the RAG Central office. The £50 registration fee will be returned if the £200 commitment per person is raised and handed in before the deadline. If not, it will be cashed immediately.

· Each team must create an Everyday Hero online fundraising page. ALL sponsorship must be made through this page. If teams are given sponsorship in cash, they must keep it and donate that amount online to their page.

• Non-University members are welcome to participate; however each team must contain at least one University (Cambridge or ARU) member, and all participants must be over the age of 18.

• For safety reasons you must travel in pairs - you must not travel alone. Never split up to get a lift. All pairs must stay together at all times. Whilst female-female teams are permitted, RAG Jailbreak recommends male-female or male-male teams.

• If you are hitching you must not thumb for lifts either in the slip-roads of motorways or actually on the motorways – this is illegal. For mixed couples, make sure that the male hitcher is the first in and the last out of each vehicle.

• Meet at 8.00am on Friday29th January in the middle of Parker’s Piece to sign in for the event. You will need to bring:

• A valid passport, not expiring in the next 6 months if you intend to travel abroad

• The mobile phone (number of which you gave in your application form) with international roaming and credit

• Your Jailbreak 2016 T-shirt

• A letter confirming your participation in Jailbreak 2016, which will be provided to you

• None of your own money is to be used for transport on the outward journey. You may, however, raise money for your outward journey anytime after the event begins at 9am on the 29th January 2016. You may spend your own money on food, accommodation and the return journey as necessary.

• You are not allowed to use your own motored transport, friends’/families’ transport, air miles, travel vouchers, etc. Pre-arrangements by negotiating with travel companies or anyone before the event commences (i.e. before 9am on 29th January) are also not allowed.

• Every time you cross a border or take a flight, you must inform the Jailbreak team. You must also do so at 9pm GMT on both Friday and Saturday and at 9am GMT on Saturday to confirm your whereabouts. Failure to do so will lead to disqualification.

• If you are taking a flight, or other long-haul journey, ask about the return journey. It is recommended that you do not take a flight without guarantee of return. This is particularly relevant with regards to the new US Visa Rules (these are explained in the guide). You should pay for the return half of the ticket yourself.

• Your final position is your furthest point by 9pm on 30th. If you are on a flight at 9pm we will calculate your in-air position.

• The insurance cover provided by Jailbreak will last until 9am on 31st January 2016 to give you ample time to return to Cambridge. Your insurance for Jailbreak will cover you nearly world-wide. It is, however, not valid for trips to the following territories/countries – Afghanistan, Chechnya, Democratic Republic of Congo, Iraq, Israel (Gaza and West Bank only) and Somalia.

• In the event of an emergency, contact the member of the Jailbreak Committee you are assigned to immediately. Jailbreak will do everything in its capacity to assist you but will not be responsible for any situation a team may find themselves in.

• The committee’s ruling is final in any dispute of the rules.
