1.0 INTRODUCTION

SW-3003 is a high performance Hand Held Metal Detector designed for meeting the requirements of security industry. Typical uses like body search for offensive weapons, airport and border security, parcels and letters scanning and hidden metal detecting.

You are suggested to read this manual carefully before start operating on this Detector. You are also recommended to keep this manual for future reference.

2.0 PREPARATION

2.1 INSTALLING BATTERY

You need a 9-volt (6F22, S006P or equivalent) standard or rechargeable battery to power your Detector.

2.2 TYPE OF BATTERIES

PRIMARY BATTERY: Normal Voltage: 9V

Type: 6F22, S006P. or equivalent

RECHARGEABLE BATTERY: NickelCadmium(NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride(Ni-MH)

Normal Voltage: 8.4V

Capacity: 130 to 150 mA

Note: You have to switch off the power to your Detector if you are going yo replace the old battery by a new one. To switch off the power, please refer to
3.0 OPERATION.

POWER ON/OFF

  1. Slide the battery cover in the direction as indicated by the arrow “OPEN” which is marked in the battery cover.

  1. Identify the polarities of the battery and the polarities marked on the battery cap. Insert the cap onto the battery.

  1. Insert the battery with the battery cap on it into the battery compartment. Care should be taken for the orientation of battery which is indicated in the compartment.

4. Replace the battery cover.

2.3 CHARGING A BATTERY

To charge a rechargeable battery, you need a charger with the following rating: 9V DC, 500mA, Center Positive.

  1. Make sure that the Detector is powered off.

  2. Locate the power jack is in the opposite side of the power ON/OFF switch.

  1. Connect the charger to an AC outlet and the DC plug to the Detector.

BATTER CHARGE

  1. Allow 4-6 hours to fully charge the battery.

Warning:

Using an incorrect battery or charger with incorrect rating may seriously damage to the electronic circuit inside the Detector.

Cautions:

1.Use only fresh battery and always replace the old battery by fresh one.

2.Never attempt to recharge a 9V primary battery. Type S006P or 6F22 is a primary battery which is normally non-rechargeable.

3.Dispose old batteries promptly and properly.

3.0 OPERATION

The Power switch has a “I” and “O” marks which designates the power ON or OFF status. To start a scan,

1. Press on the “I” side of the power switch. A “click” sound will be heard and the Green LED comes on which signifies that your Detector is powered On.

2.Sweep the Detector in a side-to-side and up-and-down motions continuously at a height of 10-30 mm above the surface where the concealed weapons or arms are to be located.

3. When the Detector senses themetallic objects, the RED LED indicator will light up and beep sound will be heard.

Notes:

1.If the Detector is held still over a metal object, the Detection signal will diminish automatically. It is important for you to scan the object continually.

2.If the green light goes out completely or fails to come on or if the unit is making unfamiliar audio tones, it’s time to replace the battery or have the rechargeable battery recharged.

3.1 USING HEADPHONE OR EARPHONE

You may have a “Silent Scanning” by using a headphone or earphone with which the sound generated by the Detector will not be heard by other people.A headphone is particularly useful in noisy area. It enhances audio perception by bringing the sound directly to your ears while masking "outside" noise interference. Using headphone or earphone also save battery power.

To connect a headphone to the Detector, insert the headphones' 1/8-inch plug into the HEADPHONE JACK.

Note:

The Detector's internal speaker will be disconnected when you connect a headphone.

4.0 PERFORMANCE

The sensitivity of the detector is determined primarily by the size, shape and composition of the object to be detected.

Here is some typical performance figures for reference:

Object / Maximum Detection Range
38 Caliber hand gun / 28cm
Pen knife / 15cm
Razor blade / 10cm
5.0 MAINTENANCE

Your Detector doesn't require a lot of care, but there are few things you should do to keep it in peak operating conditions.

  1. If you're not going to use it for a while, take the battery out.
  2. Avoid extreme temperature like the inside of a closed car sitting in the sun.
  3. Put a rain-rest cover over the whole Detector if you're operating in rain, fog or dust.
  4. Keep your Detector dry and clean.
  5. When not in use, store the Detector in a dry environment.
