- These are in the order where people were seated around the room, rather than in alphabetical order.
- Stathis Kitsios
· Workshop was well organized.
· Facilities good.
· Food good.
· Good for speaker to use computer and mouse.
· Don’t like parallel sessions.
· Problems with assessing internet in the hotel.
· One of NAM’s presentations was refused.
· Have people indicate which course they want.
· Possibly have longer breaks in early part of event.

· Evacuation was a problem when the hotel had a false alarm.
· Computer problems on Thursday morning. This was due to a program hogging all of the computer memory.
· Need to stick strictly to time for each presentation.
· Hard to cover a basic class in half a day.
· Had noise from vendors area coming into training and session rooms.

· It was chaotic to get materials from shipping to the Exhibitors on Sunday and during teardown.
· Notes from breakout sessions need to be places on web site.

· People didn’t realize the overall schedule. We need to have a better schedule.

· Interesting presentations.
· Prefer one day of training.
· Prefer to have advanced training all on one day.

· Make the hand-out program a little more glitzy.

· Try to make meeting spaces smaller to fit the number of attendees for courses and breakouts.

· Had both hand held and lapel mike. A little cheesy but OK.
· Need to turn the speakers in the rooms so all people can hear.

· Four days of exhibiting is too long.
· Encourage exhibitors not to bring too many people to only staff the booths.

· Break into four sessions.
· Shorten breakout session to one hour.
· Need better organization of sessions.
· Hotel noise during some sessions.
· Feels four days of Exhibits is fine.
· No use of orange color on the slides.
· Focus on permitting no commercialism.
· Thinks 30 minutes for each session is good.
· Involve Abstract Review Committee in session organization.
· Need organizer of Steering Committee meeting to encourage people to follow up on action items.

· Sunday night – need to place numbers on Exhibit tables.
· Need to have a better place for the co-chairs to sit during the Technical Sessions.

· Many of the above comments will be addressed in planning the 2010 Workshop.

· We will have two four-hour sessions for training.
· We will have ONE day of training with two half-day sessions.
· We will have two days of technical sessions.
· Have some plenary and some parallel sessions.
· A draft outline for the 2010 program will be prepared before the next Steering Committee meeting.

- There was no more discussion of this topic.
· Agenda/Minutes – May 12, 2009
- Emee Ermel has circulated e-mails with suggestions for the 2010 Workshop based on feedback she received from discussions with people after the 2009 Workshop.
- Is there discussion of this matter?
- Face-to-Face Meeting. Do we want to plan a face-to-face planning meeting this summer?
- If yes, when and where?
- Gas Production “Business.” Barry Nicholson has asked if we want to plan an extended session on the current gas production business? Look at price projections, impact on development, impact on production operations, impact on service sector, etc. Maybe have panel of experts including T. Boone Pickens, Dr. Scott Tinker, others.
- This could be an extended keynote session, or perhaps even a full plenary session.
- Technical Presentations. We can have an “open” session where people can offer topics of interest.
- Face-to-Face Meeting. A face-to-face meeting is tentative set for Aug. 18, at Schlumberger in Houston. This will be a “standard” Steering Committee meeting, plus an opportunity to discuss ways to improve the Workshop in 2010 and for the future. Suggestions for the agenda will be welcome.
- Gas Business. The consensus is to address this but not to have a full session on it. We will see if this can be handled in an “expanded” keynote session. Cleon Dunham will modify the workshop agenda to address this scope of this. Done.

- Can we confirm the face-to-face meeting at Schlumberger on August 18, 2009?
- Barry Nicholson has arranged a face-to-face meeting at Schlumberger’s Dairy Ashford office, south of I-10, in Houston.
- He will send directions to the meeting.
- He will provide a dial-in facility for people who cannot attend in person.
- The meeting will be on August 18, 2009.
- The meeting will start at 10:00 am.
- Cleon Dunham will start a draft of the agenda. It will include:
· Work on the technical presentations for the 2010 Workshop.
· Work on roles and responsibilities of Steering Committee members.
· Discuss what will happen if attendance is low due to people’s inability to travel – how may this affect the design of the Workshop?
· What is our breakeven number of attendees?

- The next meeting will be a face-to-face meeting on August 18, at Schlumberger’s office in Houston.
- An agenda has been prepared for the meeting.
- People are beginning to sign up for the face-to-face meeting in Houston.
- People are asked to RSVP to Barry Nicholson of Schlumberger so he can arrange building passes and lunch.

3. Venue for 2010 workshop

- We agree to stay in Denver for the 2010 Workshop.
- We agree to stay in the Downtown Sheraton Hotel for the 2010 Workshop.

- We need to come to agreement with the hotel on some issues. Possibly a face-to-face meeting is needed with the hotel staff.
- There was too much noise from construction and room set-up/teardown during some of the sessions.
- We need better placement and management of the loud speakers in the rooms.
- We need to have a better way to tailor the sizes of the rooms for the number of
- attendees / participants in each class.
- We need to have portable microphones in the larger CE classes and at least two
- portable microphones in the Technical Sessions.
- The construction is supposed to be finished by Sept. 2009.
- They are replacing the sound system in the ballrooms.

- The venue is a little pricy in this economic climate. Is there any way we can reduce the cost for meals, etc?
- The construction will be finished by the next Workshop time so there should be less noise to contend with.
- There is a concern about possible low attendance due to travel restrictions.

4. Dates for 2010 workshop

- We will target for March 1 – 4, 2010 if this time is available and if it not more expensive than last week in February.

5. Workshop schedule in 2010

- We agreed to scale back to three days in 2010, with one day for Continuing Education and two days for Technical Workshop.

· Better to have breakouts on Tuesday.
· Better to have fewer breakout sessions.
· Better to end each day at 5:30.
· Better to move keynote address to Monday reception or Tuesday lunch.
· Ned to make sure instructors are aware long in advance.
· Some companies take customers out on Tuesday evening.
· Better to cut lunch on Tuesday to 1 hour.
- There was much discussion of the proposed schedule.
- Finally, the following agreements were reached:
· Move the Keynote Address to Tuesday lunch.
· Have the Keynote Address from 1:00 – 2:00.
· End the day on Tuesday at 6:00.
· Include “ask the experts” in the breakout sessions.
