- W3C WS-RA Status Update
Ram Jeyaraman reports the specifications are going through 2nd Last Call. The 2nd Last Call period ends on September 17. There have been a few comments, none of them substantive, and all have been resolved. The next WG meeting (teleconference) is scheduled for September 21. The WG chair has asked those who intend to test implementations to make it known on the call, so that those who don’t have implementations can be marked as “at risk”. WG is starting to put together scenarios for testing; a template has been submitted by IBM. Chair is looking for input on good dates for testing so that a date can be set for the next face-to-face meeting; it will likely be in January or February. WS-DD members are encouraged to make it known to the WS-RA chair before September 21 if they are planning on participating in interop testing, so that can be considered during the WS-RA meeting.
Antoine indicated that he did receive a formal (negative) answer to the one issue he had previously submitted for which he had not received a response.
Ram indicates that WS-Eventing has the greatest amount of support for testing, followed by WS-Transfer. WS-MetadataExchange is “on the margin”. WS-Enumeration and WS-Fragment are at greatest risk now of not having enough reference implementations. Ram asked if any WS-DD members had an interest in WS-Enumeration or WS-Fragment. Antoine indicated that his company also has an implementation of WS-Management and they have an interest in those specs; however, it depends on whether the newest version of WS-Management actually references the specs.
Alain asked what WS-DD would do if needed WS-RA specs didn’t progress to Recommendation stage. Antoine noted that WS-Management had integrated the needed portions of specs directly in order to eliminate the external dependency.
8.FutureMeetings
- Discuss schedule for future meetings
A teleconference will be scheduled for November 9. An additional teleconference will be scheduled earlier than that if requested by TC members who identify issues in the WS-RA Second Last Call specs that need to be discussed in WS-DD.
