- Approved minutes: motioned Harris; seconded Sabath
- Introduction of newest SGC members: Charles Thomas—parent rep; Kathy Smith—teacher rep
- Principal Report
- almost fully staffed for next year
- outside engineer/architect came out to evaluate site for DesignIT!; no projected schedule/budget yet
- graduation—May 23, 10am Verizon amphitheater
- Upcoming Self-Assessments on SGC—must be completed during May (due date uncertain); look for it in email
- Superintendent Parent Council Report
- School choice (as in moving around the clusters like to Cambridge or Johns Creek) is limited, but alternatives like Georgia Perimeter and virtual school are available
- Scott Muri, deputy superintendent of academics is leaving; Robert Avossa, superintendent, is also leaving. We will not be looking at hiring a new superintendent until the fall.
- Redistricting—Atlanta mayor is looking to expand APS into south Fulton territory; we are at risk for losing 2 schools to APS and approximately 60 students. If it passes, approximately 1800 kids will have to be redistributed among current schools.
- Motion to amend agenda—Doll; second—Fulghum
- Move election of officers to next meeting: Chair, Co-Chair, Parliamentarian, Outreach Chair, Budget Chair (new members are not in attendance)
- Seed Fund allocation update—depending on report from engineer, we hope to order furniture and computer components over the summer
- Budget Committee—Budget Review this summer
- Dates for upcoming meetings
- August 5, 2015 @ 3:50pm A101
- Possible future topics:
- how alternative options (dual enrollment, move on when ready, partnerships with Gwinnett tech (Jeremy Bennett), etc) will affect Chattahoochee enrollment; what are success rates for kids who went the traditional route vs these alternatives considering the quality difference between courses
- budget committee will need two new members—possibly Charles Thomas and needs one another
- communications committee will need one new member—possibly Kathy Smith
- all committees must have a chair, the principal, and 3 other members
