Star-Studded Field To Take Part In 21st Annual COMP Cams® Topless 100
Memphis, TN – The 21st Annual COMP Cams® Topless 100 will feature the top Dirt Late Model racers from around the country competing for a top prize of $40,000 on August 15th-17th at Arkansas’ Batesville Motor Speedway.
For the past 20 years the COMP Cams® Topless 100 has been a crown jewel of the Dirt Late Model scene. It is a unique event in which the ultra-fast cars compete with the roofs removed, allowing the crowd a glimpse at the hard work their favorite drivers do in the cockpit each race night. The race has been won by some of the biggest names in the sport, such as Moyer, Bloomquist and Frye, and also catapulted Batesville native Jared Landers into the national spotlight with his victory in 2010. Moyer, Bloomquist and Landers are all expected in 2013, along with Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) points leader John Blankenship; defending race winner Steve Francis; two-time defending series champion Jimmy Owens; perennial threats Don O’Neal, Earl Pearson Jr. and Tyler Reddick; local hotshoes Billy Moyer Jr., Wendell Wallace and Brandon Smith; and dozens of other top drivers and teams. The LOLMDS-sanctioned event kicks off with a practice session at the quick 3/8 mile dirt oval on the evening of Thursday, August 15th, with time trials and heat races taking place the following night. The weekend’s action will conclude on Saturday evening with the highly anticipated 100-lap feature paying $40,000 to win and $2,000 simply to start.
“It’s always a thrill to see the top Dirt Late Model teams in the country, many of whom are running our components, battle it out for the prestige and the big check that comes with winning the Topless 100,” said Chris Douglas, COMP Cams® VP of Marketing. “We get to witness competition at its finest, and it matches perfectly with the COMP® business model in which we strive to be the very best in our field each and every day– just like the drivers and teams on the track. It’s an honor to be associated with such a prestigious event.”
