BRAINSTORMING SESSIONS NOTES

Achievement Night – Stacie Skelton, Cameron Jodlowski, Alice Jodlowski volunteered to serve on this committee

  • More of a banquet – Guest Speaker – YLT Youth?
  • More focus on “community” event
  • Make it more interactive such as “Minute to Win It”
  • Have it during the winter
  • Promote by inviting as a “club” event were you could also invite a friend

Records - Stacie Skelton, Cameron Jodlowski, and Alice Jodlowski volunteered to serve on this committee

  • Continue to do Logan County records (possibly a new form) if NOT interested in State Level competition (so don’t have to go on to as lengthy IL Award Application)
  • Create an “app” for smart phone that lets you record you went to a meeting and it automatically goes wherever to post onto form you need to submit
  • If we make kids do records, they may quit 4-H!
  • Maybe the records could be done in varies ways such as a power point, scrapbook, Prezi power point
  • Implement record workshops

Alumni– Amanda Davison volunteered to serve on this committee

  • Get more alumni involved with Foundation
  • Ask alumni to lead workshops, provide testimonies, partner with federation or invite their children to be a part of the 4-H program
  • Start by contacting them through Facebook, former leaders, parents still in the area, word of mouth in order to get to attend a social event to start and move on to other volunteer opportunities

Middle School – Leslie Starasta, Amanda Davison, Melinda Spangler (? ) volunteered to serve on this committee

  • Create a “pre-Federation” group that would meet every other month
  • Service Learning SPIN club experience – have a social experience, a community service experience, a learning experience and rotate topics
  • Lock In – LORI WARD would help – Unit Wide?

4-H Promo – All clubs, staff and community members will work on 4-H promotion

  • IGA Grocery carriers – have youth in 4-H t-shirts take bagged groceries and deliver to peoples cars
  • Culvers Night – Jr High age or older to take trays to tables
  • Link non-livestock to livestock kids to experience the project (help them show in ring, etc.) and vice versa
  • Master Showmanship – Doc Penny/Betsy Pech – might be able to advise on setup or judge contest
  • Make educational posters for each species and display in appropriate barn
  • Have a 4-H Trash Barrel design contest with each club participating
  • Participate in local parades or events such as homecoming and Christmas parades and health fairs/open houses
  • Do community service projects to improve 4-H awareness

SPIN Clubs/Workshop

  • Pinterest SPIN club – Amanda Davison & Lori Ward would help
  • Scratch Computer Program
  • Workshop Ideas – painting, tie dying, weaving (Jodi Philips), clay, sewing up cycling a garment or t-shirt, cake decorating, dance, running, sports, bicycling, video, filmmaking, journalism, recycle projects, ribbon dancing, robotics, small engines, ceramics, gardening, balloon animals, computers, pie making, theater and magic.

Ambassadors 9th-12th grades

  • Leading a program such as Cloverbuds
  • Becoming Teens as Teachers
  • Do a Saturday program where first two hours are for Cloverbud ages, second two hours are for 3rd-5th and last two hours for junior high age activities/projects
  • Link to a career interest – Sewing – Georgia Green/Baling – Martha Green/Cattle – Rawlings for example
  • Weekend Retreat Unit 16 wide to provide training, exposure and entertainment
  • Partner with Youth Leadership Team

June – July

  1. 4-H Promotion Booth at the fair.
  2. Find the Clovers at the fair contest.
  3. Radio advertisement to play during the fair.
  4. Paul Gleason history booth at the fair with memorabilia.
  5. Aerial picture with 100 4-H members spelling out 4-H on Wednesday of the fair.
  6. Have information near the petting zoo, department W and have the fair queen promote 4-H.
  7. Celebrity scramble or event possibly with alumni too. (Beth, Amanda, Deana)
  8. Blank poster board for alumni or current members to write down favorite memory, activity or evolution of a project over the past 100 years. Outside of the county alumni can send or mail in their input.

August-December

  1. Visit schools to target 5th and 6th grades, have the 7th and 8th graders be involved with a community service, project, or activity.
  2. Involve FB leaders.
  3. Get more alumni to get their kids involved.
  4. Presentations at the rec center, balloon fest, local fall festivals.
  5. Partner with FFA, FACS and FBLA.
  6. Grades 7-8 Federation middle school nights in the fall with minute to win it games and make pizza.
  7. More clover bud groups/events.
  8. Create a records committee.
  9. For 2013 National 4-H week, replace poster contest with t-shirt contest. Vote for the best t-shirt design on Facebook. Order and buy by the clubs taking the orders. Order as a county for a better price. Can wear during the 2014 fair. Conduct during October.
  10. Promote 4-H Ambassador program and Teens as Teacher program
  11. Promote 4-H Middle School Program

January – May

  1. Collect 100 cans and build a structure at the fair or at a local business to promote the club and 4-H. Do during the fall/winter time.
  2. 100 years in pictures. Create a book for instance of snap fish comprised of members, research standards, lifestyles, projects, girl/boys club, etc.
  3. Increase SPIN clubs such as animal science or Pinterest.
  4. Saturday 4-H Programs: First two hours are for Cloverbud ages, second two hours are for 3rd-5th and last two hours for junior high age activities/projects
  5. Hold first 4-H alumni event (planning conducted in October)
  6. Conduct workshops on the possible topics of visual arts, health and fitness, robotics/computers, foods or video/filmmaking.
