Directions to register for ONLINE HOMEWORK AND LAB ASSIGNMENTS

Always use NCC/Blackboard/Foreign Language Lab Online Common as a starting point when one is using AN ONLINE WORKBOOK, LABORATORY MANUAL, STUDENT ACTIVITIES MANUAL.

To access online workbooks and lab manuals through Foreign Language Laboratory Online Common, students must use -Blackboard CE. You must know your NCC-ID (“Banner” number) and your PIN (password). All foreign language students are enrolled in a “Foreign Language Lab Online common course” – “12_FA FORLANG_LAB-COMMON-FA12.” If you do not see a Foreign Language Lab Online course after you have logged in, contact immediately Language Lab coordinator, Dr. Konovaliouk (tel. 516.572.74.15; email- ).

To access ONLINE workbook (WB), lab manual (LB), or student Activities Manual (SAM) materials follow these steps:

1.  Access MyNCC from Nassau Community College home page (www.ncc.edu)

2.  Click on – Access to Online Courses (Blackboard) – in QUICK LINKS window

·  If you have trouble logging into Banner and subsequently to Blackboard, contact the Banner Help Desk at 516.572.9980 or e-mail .

3.  Enter your N# and PIN (initial PIN is your initials + last 4 digits of your SS#)

4.  In a course list menu select

a) “12_FA FORLANG_LAB-COMMON-FA12 - Foreign Language Lab M-15 Online”

b) Your target language &

course level

5.  After you selected YOUR target language and level (e.g. SPA101, ITA101, SPA201, etc.), refer to

course specific” instructions provided by your course instructor. These specific instructions should include your course code and the instructor’s name.

Once you click on your language and level you will be directed to the publisher’s website:

Click on register and read and accept the licensing agreement.

To register you will need:

·  An access code. It is packaged with your book in the bookstore

·  A valid email address

·  The school zip code 11530

·  Your instructors course id.

Follow the instructions to create an account. Your access code and course id must be entered exactly as it appears.

Click on MyLabCourses 2012/2013 release and you will be prompted to enter the course id. Your course ID will be given to you by your instructor.

ONCE YOU HAVE REGISTERED

1.  Complete the Browser Tune-Up.

Once you are in your course click Browser Tune-up. This will confirm that you have met the System Requirements and have the necessary free plug-ins on your computer. Do this once on every computer that you use the program.

If you do NOT use a supported browser, you will NOT be able to sign into the site.

Select Support then System Requirements (http://mylanguagelabs.com/support/system-requirements.html)

to see the most up-to-date information on supported browsers. Pearson tests each supported browser thoroughly for use with a MyLab.

2. Enable Pop-Up Blockers

Are you clicking on an activity or link inside the course and nothing happens? Some browsers will block all pop-ups—even those you want! To allow pop-ups in your MyLanguageLab course, open your browser and do the following (there may be some variations with each browser):

For PC USERS:

1. Click Tools à Pop-up Blocker à Pop-up Blocker Settings.

2. When prompted for “Address of Website to allow”, enter:*.pegasus2.pearsoned.com

(If you have downloaded a third-party (Google, Yahoo, AOL, etc.) pop-up blocker/toolbar make sure you turn the pop-up blocker off on that toolbar in addition to your browser pop-up blocker.)

FOR MAC USERS:

1. Click Safari. Make sure “Block Pop-Up Windows” is unchecked while working in MyLanguageLabs.

FOR FIREFOX USERS:

1.  Click Firefox. A new box will open. Choose the Content tab. You will see “Block pop-up windows.

2.  Either uncheck that box to turn off your pop up blocker or choose exceptions and enter in *.pegasus2.pearsoned.com. Click “Allow” then Close.

3. Click on set up your e-text.
