Dear Friends in Rammy,

Greetings from Jack and Isa! Here we are in Grand Rapids still. Today it is a scorcher! We have two weeks to go before back to England. The Keswick Convention is into its second week. Keswick will be crowded with all the tourists, hikers, campers and folks for the convention. New Tribes usually have a stall there for the 3 weeks. Our friends from Scotland and North Cotes will each take a week to represent New Tribes Mission.

Our son’s boy Brandon just spent two months in Papua New Guinea working in the medical clinic with two missionary doctors at our Headquarters. He would like to study to be a doctor so the training was excellent for him. He and a doctor managed to fly by helicopter for a few days into one of the isolated tribal locations in Papua New Guinea. He gave over 400 immunisations to the local people in the villages.

We had a very interesting E-mail from one of the Pawaian believers yesterday. Jacob is the only Pawaian ever to leave the village of Haia and to go to study at the university in Port Moresby the capital! He trained for four years and then was qualified in engineering. After qualifying he went back to his village and then he went down to the oil company to work at Wabo in the Gulf District (Pawaian territory still). He is a lovely believer and walking with the Lord! He is from Haia where we worked for many years. His family are there too. All believers! In his letter he said that the believers at Haia are all fine and going on with the Lord. They are spreading the word of God, teaching and reaching out to unbelievers. Some of the believers flew out for the yearly National Conference and others walked for a week or more to get there. They will enjoy some good bible teaching and fellowship then they will go back to the different tribal locations and teach the believers in the villages.

For the lower Pawaians in the Gulf District starting from Uraru to Poroi the different companies are flooding into their land to develop oil and gas. There are big changes. Thank the Lord we got there first and presented God's word to them and many believed. Pray for them please as the outside is rushing in upon them. Since the Wabo people don’t have a person who has a degree Jacob is there to help them. Jacob says:

Pray for me please. I am doing fine but too much work from my end so you can pray for me so that the good Lord can lead and support me from my job. For giving me this knowledge, I will help my Pawaian people to negotiate properly with the developer so the landowners can best benefit from their land. Everything is cool and fine here at Pawaian villages. I will continue to update you with any changes that take place here in the Pawaian areas. Thank you so much for replying to my email and may the good Lord continue to protect all of us. Thanks and you have a pleasant day.

Regards,

Jacob J Benai

It did us good to have this little bit of news.

Thank you for remembering us and the Pawaian believers.

Every blessing in the Lord,

Jack & Isa Douglas
