Spirit & Traditions Recognition Resolution

RESOLUTION COMMENDING THE SPIRIT AND TRADITIONS COMMITTEE OF THE

STUDENT ACTIVITIES BOARD

Co-Sponsored by Jasie Stokes, Graduate Student Council President and Alex Stewart, Arts & Sciences Senator

WHEREAS, the aims of the Student Government Association include the creation of a “stronger bond among students and among all student organizations” and the improvement of “the status of students in the University community,” as per the Preamble of the SGA Constitution; and

WHEREAS, the Student Activities Board “shall be the programming arm of the student body” and shall provide social and recreational activities, with an emphasis on serving the student body, as per SGA Constitution 8.1.1 and SAB Constitution Article II; and

WHEREAS, the Spirit and Traditions Committee is tasked with both organizing traditional events on campus, such as the Crawfish Boil and the recent Homecoming Week activities, as well as new activities throughout the year, as per SAB Constitution Article IV, section 2.D; and

WHEREAS, the 2014 Homecoming Week festivities have received high praise from students, faculty, staff, community members, and alumni; and

WHEREAS, the 2014 Crawfish Boil brought together both current students and alumni, including families with multiple generations of Louisville Cardinals; and

WHEREAS, the Spirit and Traditions Chair and Vice-Chair have reached the end of their highly successful tenure;

NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Student Senate of the University of Louisville expresses its utmost appreciation for the Spirit and Traditions Committee of the Student Activities Board of the Student Government Association; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Student Senate of the University of Louisville also recognizes and commends Spirit & Traditions Committee Chair Erin O’Riordan and Vice-Chair Ben Taussig, for their dedication to the student body and alumni of the University of Louisville; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Student Senate of the University of Louisville also recognizes and commends Sara Clifton, the graduate assistant most closely connected with the committee in its endeavors, for her unending support and guidance, above and beyond the requirements for the position; and

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED, that the Student Senate of the University of Louisville wishes these students the best of luck in their future projects, as outstanding members of the student body of the University of Louisville.
