Partnership with Parents Agreement (PiPA)

In Cheshire and Merseyside Neonatal Network, we believe that all babies and their families should be treated with respect and dignity

Working in partnership with parents to achieve care that puts their baby and family at the centre of our services in an appropriate unit for your babies care

In partnership with you:

Building relationships

Introduce ourselves to you

Refer to your baby by their given name

Display our visiting times and give you unrestricted access to your baby

Provide a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere

Provide you with information and support to recognise your babies developmental care, social and emotional needs

Ensure changes in care are discussed with you

Ensure we do not take away those important ‘first events’, bathing, dressing, moving from incubator to a cot

Ensure you are given a photograph of your baby, and help you take photos of your baby whenever you wish

Recognise your need for privacy in some situations

Provide facilities for you to stay overnight

Ensure you receive a copy of BLISS Family Handbook on admission

Ensure you are updated daily as a minimum, and kept updated about your babies medical condition and treatment

Ensure you have access to your babies Consultant and you are aware when Ward Rounds take place

Provide you with information about local services and organisations, relevant literature and how to access it when you are ready

Answer your questions honestly

Ensure care is given respecting your cultural and religious beliefs

Ensure that you are given information to orient yourself to the unit, parking, restaurants and subsidies

We recognise that having a baby in a neonatal unit is stressful and we will offer emotional or counselling support

We will ensure you are given information on what to expect after discharge.

We ask you

To contact us if you are unable to visit or contact us at least once a day

To make sure we have your contact details

Ask whenever you want to know something or don’t understand

Let the staff know about your preferences about your babies day to day care and what time you will be visiting

Treat staff with respect
