READ-A-THON

Friday, April 11– Sunday, May 4, 2014

We hope all students will participate in the read-a-thon by reading as much as they can. We’d also like to encourage students to ask friends and family to pledge per page or donate a flat amount. If each student in the school collected just $5 to $10, together we would raise between $1700 and $3400! Money raised by kindergarten through 4th grade students will go toward buying school supplies for next year; funds raised by 5th grade students will help defray the transportation cost of their field trip to the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia.

Please help us get the students excited about reading while supporting the PTO at the same time.

Program Details:

  • Collect pledges from family and friends.
  • Read as many books/pages as possible between April 11 and May 4.
  • Send your home book log to school every Thursday(April 24 and May 1)to count your pages and see how much your class has read.
  • The final tally of ALL book logs will take place on Monday, May 5.
  • Collect all money pledged and bring to school in a marked envelope (along with your pledge form) no later than Monday, May 12. Checks should be made out to FTE PTO.
  • Classes can earn PRIZES for Read-a-Thon:
  • Each class with 100% in-school reading participation will earn a free book for their classroom library.
  • Classes will compete to see which class (1) has the highest at-home reading participation, (2) reads the most pages, and (3) raises the most money for our school.

Rules:

  • Read books at your reading level.
  • For parents who read with their children, please count those pages too!
  • A parent or guardian must sign your Home Book Log.
  • Even books you read in school (or books that are read to you by a teacher or guest reader) count!
  • All pledge money is due by Monday, May 12. Please make checks out to FTE PTO.
