- Present the word. Give all of the above. Include a little story about the word in your life. Have students say it out loud after you say it. have them tap the syllables. Have them write the word.
- Have students turn to a partner and share the word, using it multiple times. Give students a ‘frame,’ or template to use to start their sentence using the word. (verbal)
- Written: Give students a prompt and have them write a paragraph using the word. This is very much a RARE response. Restate, answer, reason, and example. Once again this teacher gave a template for each word to get students started. I wonder if we could just use RARE and let students reply.
- Finally a final response would be to give another writing prompt where no frame or template is given and students would write a paragraph using the word.
