VOLUNTEER ROLE DESCRIPTION

Role title: Volunteer Football Coach

Locations:

Responsible to: Andrew Tower

Duration of role: Minimum of 12 months

Frequency: Weekly

Hours available: Commitment is a minimum of one training session per week.

BLGC aims to inspire and enable all young people, especially those from disadvantaged circumstances, to realise their potential and become happy, responsible and caring citizens. Every day the club makes a real and lasting difference to the lives of young people. This year we won a National Award for ‘Youth Organisation of the Year’.

The role:

We are looking for volunteersto make a difference to the lives of children and young people through coaching football and be part of our charter standard football club. Sport is an enormous part of what we do at BLGC, and as a volunteer here you will feel pride in what you and the young people you work with are achieving.

We need volunteers who:

  • Are passionate about football and working with children and young people.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Are able to develop positive working relationships with young people & fellow coaches, and be able to coach within a technical syllabus.
  • You also need to be enthusiastic, committed and ready to build your team, and take them to the next level.
  • You should have a level one coaching qualification as a minimum or there must be a commitment to working toward these qualifications.
  • Have previous experience of coaching within a grassroots football club is also beneficial..
  • Will adhere to policies and procedures at all times with particular emphasis on equality and diversity, health and safety and safeguarding.

  • You will gain a Level 1 Coaching – further training and qualifications will be offered to committed coaches.
  • You will receive mentoring from highly qualified football coaches (UEFA ‘A’ and UEFA ‘B’) and other development opportunities.
  • You will connect with young people and make a difference to their lives.

Activities involved in:

  • Plan, prepare and deliver a weekly training session plus managing the team on match day alongside fellow coaches. Coaches are required to take registers on training and match day.
  • Manage parental expectations and build positive relationships with parents.
  • Liaise with the Football Development Officer on fixtures, results, tournaments, and other football related matters.

FA First Aid and Safeguarding certificates

FA Level one coaching qualification.
