Criteria / Essential / Desirable / Assessment Method
Qualification / A recorded, registered qualification in one of the following at graduate level and/or post graduate level: nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, psychological therapy or psychology or Diploma in Counselling and 3 years IAPT experience.
And/or
Professional counselling/therapy qualification / Minimum of 1 years post grad experience
Evidence of working in a stepped care service for anxiety and depression

Experience / 2 yrs experience of working in a mental health service
Ability to meet agreed/specified service targets: MDS, live client feedback (SRS) and practice based approach developments to reduce DNAs and improve recovery rate.
Ability to manage own caseload and time
Demonstrates high standard in written communication
Ability to write clear reports and letters / Experience of working in Primary Care
Experience of working in a service where agreed targets are in place demonstrating clinical outcomes
Evidence of working in the local community
Evidence of developing relationships with other agencies / A

Abilities, Skills & Competencies / Commitment to work with a broad range of clients and develop a pluralistic approach to developing client’s needs.
Full range of skills and competencies as laid out in the competence framework for CBT
(Roth & Pilling 2007) or equivalent competencies.
Training (formal or through experience) of how to carry out risk assessments within scope of practice
Basic understanding of issues surrounding clinical risk
Computer Literate
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to develop good therapeutic relationships with clients.
Ability to listen / Experience trained in provision of supervision for CBT, CfD, IPT, EMDR, DIT & Couples counselling for Depression.

Knowledge / To have a broad understanding of the different societal and cultural reason people develop mental health problems.
Demonstrate an understanding of anxiety and depression and how it may present in Primary care
Demonstrate a knowledge of the issues surrounding employment and the impact it may have on mental wellbeing / benefits and employment systems
Knowledge of medicines used in the treatment of anxiety & depression and other common mental health problems
Demonstrates an understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this post / Interest in action orientated counselling/therapy (e.g. Humanistic, CBT Solution focused, Narrative therapy etc.). / I
