ADULT FAITH DEVELOPMENT
All adult classes are open to anyone who wishes to attend. Classes are Sunday mornings at 9:30 am.
The Chapel Group, led by Helen Ferguson, is studying “The Present Word” with the theme Sustaining Hope. October will focus on the book of Job.
The group that meets in Room 4 upstairs, led by Sharon Clark, is studyingI Corinthians, a rich reflection on what it means to be the church, as well as analysis of some of the chronic ways in which church health and vitality are undermined from within. The brilliance of Paul’s letter is that all of this is grounded theologically and in the gospel. He doesn’t simply say, “Now, now, can’t we just all get along?” His argument is a much deeper one. It is based on what God had done in Jesus Christ.
The Parlor Groupis studying the DVDS series "The Holy Land Revealed" by Dr. Jodi Magnes, a professor at UNC Chapel Hill in Classical Archaeology. Join us for "Biblical Jerusalem's Ancient Water System".
Our new group that meets upstairs in Room P, (former pastor’s office) led by Jane Graeff, is using a series entitled “Faith Weaver.” This curriculum is offered for the children’s and teens classes also. The intent is to weave together a family’s journey in faith by teaching the same Bible truth across all age levels.
Anne Lamott will be in Lancaster! - Our library has several of her books such as "Traveling Mercies" and "Help, Thanks, Wow." The Parish Resource Center is sponsoring this event on Saturday, November 22, at 7PM. The cost is $28 and includes a copy of her new book, "Small Victories" which will be published in November. Her talk will focus on a message of hope and the promise of light over the darkness in our lives. "Our victories over hardship and pain may seem small but they change us----our perceptions, our perspectives, and our lives." For tickets, call 299-9932.
The Penn Central Conf. Women’s Retreat is being held at Hartman Center on November 14-16. The theme is "More than a Spoonful of Sugar: Healing & Praying with Mary Poppins." Come play and pray together as we let the wonder and wisdom prompted in Mary Poppins shape our time together. Our leader will be Cindy Garis from Oasis Ministries.
