Minutes

The minutes of the November monthly meeting, held on 21st November 2011, were confirmed on the proposal of Cllr. B. Reilly, seconded by Cllr. S. Drew.

Correspondence

  • Letter from Office of the Minister for Education and Skills acknowledging Council’s letter regarding a new EurekaSchool and a Primary Health Centre for Kells.

It was agreed to invite School Principals to Council meeting and then invite Minister for Education to meeting.

  • Letter from Department of Health regarding Council’s request for the provision of Primary Health Centre for Kells.
  • Letter from Save Our Cross Committee in relation to the reinstatement of the Cross in Cross Street.
  • Letter from Meath Association of London thanking the Cathaoirleach for his attendance at their annual function.
  • Letter of thanks from Cavan Road Residents for works on wall.

Monthly Reports

Cllr. Drew complimented the Xmas Lights Committee and the tree at the Town Hall.

In relation to query from Cllr. Curran in relation to road works taking place in the town, the Town Engineer stated that a number of projects were ongoing – gas and watermain reinstatements – and neither were managed directly from the Kells Office. Having spoken to the Senior Engineer on the project he was given an assurance that work would not commence before 10am. The onus was on the Contractor to put a Traffic Management Plan in place.

Cllr. Curran raised issue of surface of footpaths in Headfort Place.

Manager’s Orders

The Manager’s Orders, as circulated, were noted.

To consider the retention and repeal of as per findings of the Statute Law Revision Bill 2011

The Table, as circulated, was approved on the proposal of Cllr. T. Grimes, seconded by Cllr. B. Reilly.

Any Other Business

The Town Engineer informed Cllr. Sweeney that new signage should be in place early in 2012.

On the request of Cllrs. It was agreed to write to local Banks requesting them to ensure that there was sufficient funds in ATMs over weekend periods.

A vote of sympathy was passed with the Molloy family on the death of Liam Molloy, who was a former member of Kells Handball Club.

The Cathaoirleach wished his fellow Councillors, staff and people of the town a happy Christmas. He also wished the Town Clerk good wishes in his new post with Meath County Council and thanked his for all his work with Kells Town Council.

The Town Manager also thanked the Town Clerk on behalf of the staff and extended good wishes to all for Christmas.

The Town Clerk thanked members and staff for all their co-operation during his term in Kells.
