Extensive professional experience gained working in various Local, State and Federal government agencies in both the country and metropolitan areas of Western Australia. Roles include but not limited to: Project manager, Inspector, TAFE lecturer and local government Councillor. Particular expertise in the fields of sustainability (waste and recycling ),environmental health, government procedures and processes, project management, emergency / risk management, occupational health and safety, strategic direction.

Key achievements

§  Patron to many organisations and nominated for (and received) various awards, including Australian Ambassador for the Year of Women in Local Government (2010), Telstra Business Woman of the Year nominee (2009), Australian of the Year nominee (2005) and Western Australian Citizen of the Year nominee (2004)

§  The first person employed to investigate and prepare reports on compliance towards sustainability, environmental health, emergency management, occupational health and safety across the prison system in Western Australia (from 2007)

§  While the lead investigating officer in the Cryptosporidium disease outbreak in WA, wrote the Notification Disease Pathway for the Health Department to improve the time frames in addressing disease outbreaks throughout the state of Western Australia

§  Contributed to the writing, development and roll-out of the ‘Play by the Rules’ anti bullying campaign to reduce bullying and violence in sporting activities

§  Pushed for the establishment of the Stirling City Centre (now Stirling City Alliance) and was a founding member of the Government board to create the second CBD of Perth (2006), which is crucial to the Directions 31 planning strategy for the Perth Metropolitan area

§  Elected to the City of Stirling Council in 2005 with 72% of the primary vote and was instrumental in implementing many initiatives, including an award-winning sustainability policy

§  Organised the occupational health and safety audit of the Department of Health and implemented procedures and strategies to address the issues of poor compliance and stress associated with 36,000 employees (2004), including a free first aid accreditation program

§  Elected onto RAC (Royal Automobile Club) in 2004, has been instrumental in encouraging RAC to widen its financial portfolio by investing in retirement homes, scoping the possibility of investing in public transport and improving sustainability practices (battery recycling , electric highway)

§  Managed and budgeted the very successful Department of Health Perth Royal Show health promotion exhibition in 2002 and 2003, to improve community understanding of health issues

§  Co-founded the establishment Nintirri Centre to address the poor educational and health standards of a remote mining town, located 1600 km north of Perth (1986)

§  Written many policies, procedures and plans to assist government agencies in maintaining good health practice, including the Local Government Environmental Health Plan (1983), which is still used by Councils today to benchmark their health standards

§  Wrote and prepared the submission, polices and legislative cabinet submission towards the establishment of the Occupational Health and Safety Act 1984 and the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 in Western Australia, Government Sewage Policy, Grey water Reuse guidelines etc

§  Founded many community groups to address community concerns with regard to developments and community infrastructure and resource that impact upon their neighbourhoods

Designed state wide framework and reporting mechanism, audited and provided reports to parliament on public health standards, emergency management, occupational health and safety, and the sustainability of centres where people are detained in Western Australia (e.g. prisons, work camps)

2006 Equal Opportunity Commission, WA (EOC) 6-month secondment

* Prepared and planned major events to promote the EOC, including ‘Disability One Stop Shop’ and roll out of the ‘Play by the Rules‘ anti– bullying campaign
