Post of:SECURITY OPERATIONS MANAGER

Reporting to:SENIOR OPERATIONS MANAGER

Hours:40 HOURS PER WEEK(FULL TIME)

  1. MAIN PURPOSE OF ROLE
  1. The position is to manage the security operations department on a daily basis liaising and reporting and advising to the Senior Operations Manager on all security matters.
  2. To ensure all CAA/DfT and EU legislation is reviewed and that the Security Operation meets all legislation.
  3. The post holder is responsible for assisting the Senior Operations Manager in the effective operational delivery of the Security management plan
  4. The post holder will be responsible for authoring the Airports Security Programme including updates in line with legislative change.
  5. The post holder will be responsible for authoring and implementation of standard operating procedures.
  6. The post holder is responsible for performance in compliance within key areas of the business within Security, and ensuring best practice is integrated within the business
  1. KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Responsibility for the administration of a security team of approximately 100 employees, including all welfare, staff training, recruitment and human resource management.
  2. To ensure efficient deployment of manpower resource to meet the demands of the operation ( rostering and staff allocation)
  3. To address all security forums and committees at key meetings, including Risk Advisory Group Meetings, Security committees, local intelligence meetings, emergence committees and weekly operations meetings.
  4. To develop and maintain relationships with the regulatory, attending CAA/DfT meetings when required.
  5. Consult for other airport departments regarding security implications of proposed projects and operations.
  6. Responsibility for directing the training department in line with the CAA training syllabus, endeavouring to aim for continuous improvement.
  7. Collation and interruption of key performance data, for reporting to the regulatory and the organisation senior management structure.
  8. To act as the primary threat assessor for all related matters.
  9. To be an integral participant in all emergency response training and live activities at the aerodrome.
  10. To establish additional key stakeholder relationships, to ensure all security elements of customer requirements are delivered including airline, ground support, third party service providers, and other interested parties.
  11. To ensure that the security operation runs within the budget set out at the beginning of each financial year.
  12. To carry out internal audits of the security functions and implementing any required actions or change.
  13. To consult with employee/trade union representatives.

ESSENTIAL / DESIRABLE
Skills and Qualifications
Department for Transport Security Managers course – Level 3 / Recognised teaching/training certification
Excellent communicator / First Aid trained
Ability to analytically assess risk and/or risk threat
To be able to maintain a calm presence in pressure situations
A strong set of values, commitment and integrity
Experience
Experience of managing teams of staff across shift patterns / Experience within the Security industry
Experience of managing complex shift rotas coupled with relevant deployment of personnel / Experience within the aviation industry
Other
Security clearance to Counter-Terrorism level (CTC Clearance)
Basic Disclosure (Disclosure Scotland)
