Comments by the Public
Dixie reported on the Christmas Party scheduled for December 21. It will start at 6:30 PM at the Park Pavilion, warming barrels will be there to warm visitors, chili and hot chocolate for the participants. Santa will be visiting also.
Randy Brown spoke about the capabilities on the Jackpot crew, stating that all people working for Elko County are quite experienced, he did not feel that his constant supervision was necessary. He thanked all for their help.
Reading of Minutes
Robin motioned to accept the minutes of November. Theresa seconded. Motion carried.
Jackpot Town
Raft River – Stan Spencer wished everyone a Merry Christmas. Shawn reminded Stan that Heath Higley had offered to quote a price for power for the tank mixers.
Jackpot Public Works
The crew has finished installing the new Sewer Bar Screen. This Bar Screen is the only in the U. S. Doctor Johnson wants to purchase the old bar screen. Shawn asked the request be put on the agenda for January’s meeting.
Airport – All threshold lights are installed. The Mesquite Electric has been doing a great job. They have almost done for the winter. They will reinstall the runway lights next Spring.
Jackpot Recreation Center
Randy Brown stated a major cleaning and renovation had been taking at the Rec Center. The new roof is done. He is looking for funding for window improvements. They are expending recreation facility activities., planning to install computers for public users.
Jackpot Golf Course
The golf Course is closed for the winter.
Jackpot Fire/Safety
Fire Department –Brian Hugill reported the department had responded to 32 calls in November. The department has gone to 24/7 response time. This enabled them to save a 6-year-old from death.
Ambulance – Shelly Hester reported the Ambulance had responded to 25 calls, with 13 transports. The new ambulance is working well.
Sheriff Department – no one available to report.
Accounts Payable
Robin motioned to accept the accounts payable. Ed seconded. Motion carried.
Comments by the Public
Bruce Ririe of Cactus Petes reported on the upgrades that are happening to the Property. The Horseshu has been upgraded. They passed an inspection on Dec 17. The Canyon Cove is to have a 10 day makeover. Almost 3.5 million dollars will be spent on the facility before Pinnacle is done with improvements.
Robin stated she was very angry about the unavailabilty of Sheriff’s department personnel in Jackpot. Randy Brown stated he would like to write the letter to the Elko County sheriff, and see if something can be done about the lack of police in Jackpot.
