University of Toledo Students Earn Top Two Spots in Regional Sales Competition

MILWAUKEE, Wis.,--Matthew Richmond and Jack Tiernay, students at the University of Toledo and members of the Pi Sigma Epsilon chapter on campus, earned the number one and two spots at Pi Sigma Epsilon’s North Central Regional Conference held November 18, 2008 at Purdue University in West Lafayette, IN.

Richmond and Tiernay participated in Pi Sigma Epsilon’s Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon competition. Based on the SPIN Selling® principles created by Huthwaite, Inc. (and described in the best-selling book SPINÒ Selling) and Anthony Parinello’s “Getting the Second Appointment,” Richmond and Tiernay were first individually coached by sales professionals, after which they presented a mock sales call to a panel of judges.

Tiernay, captured second place honors and will receive a complimentary Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention package to Norfolk, VA in March, where he will have the opportunity to compete for cash prizes.

Richmond earned first place by a unanimous decision from the judging panel, and will also receive a complimentary Pi Sigma Epsilon National Convention package to Norfolk, VA in addition to round trip airfare.

Made possible with the generous support from Vector Marketing Corporation, Northwestern Mutual Financial Network and Kodak, the Pro-Am Sell-a-Thon has helped develop and train aspiring sales people since 1992.

Pi Sigma Epsilon is the nation’s only professional business fraternity for men and women in the fields of sales, marketing and management.
