Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CT)²

For Tech Prep Teaching Professions Programs

This is a tool to help programs that wish to be approved for the statewide transfer credit guarantee provided by the Career Technical Assurance Guide (CTAG) in Education. In order for completers (your students) to receive credit under Career-Technical Credit Transfer (CT)², your program must be approved by the CTAG approval process. To achieve this approval, each Tech Prep Teaching Professions program must demonstrate that the course/program content matches the learning outcomes in the CTAG. The statewide credit guarantee offered by (CT)² is available to students who achieve an 85 on the portfolio and enroll within two years at a public college or university in Ohio that has an approved Introduction to Education CTAG course.

Preparation:

The following represents a series of actions to be taken by Teaching Professions teachers and/or CTAG coordinators prior to using the Ohio Board of Regents’ Course Equivalency Management System (CEMS) submission tool. Each school has identified a CT² coordinator to assist faculty with preparation and submission of program information into CEMS. If you do not know the coordinator at your school, you may consult this website: http://regents.ohio.gov/careertechtransfer/fundamental-information/rosters/CareerTechInst.pdf

1.  Examine the Learning Outcomes/Themes in the Career-Technical Articulation Number (CTAN) Introduction to Education within the Education CTAG. This document can be reviewed at the following URL:

http://regents.ohio.gov/careertechtransfer/ctags/index.php

Then click on Education.

2.  Be sure you have the assurance approval letter that shows that your program has been approved by the Ohio Department of Education as a Tech Prep Teaching Professions program and is ready for the CTAG review process. You will need to attach an electronic copy of that approval letter as part of the submission process. If you do not have this document, please contact Mary Jo Kohl at .

3.  Be sure you have the copy of your “Course of Study”/syllabus ready. The program of study document must be in a PDF file format suitable for attaching during the submission process.

Ensuring that your program of study/syllabus contains the recommended content is critical for a positive outcome. You will find a guide for syllabus construction at the following site: http://regents.ohio.gov/careertechtransfer/how-to-submit/index.php

.

Submission Process

After completing the steps listed in the preparation section, you should be ready to proceed to the website which will allow you to request that your program be approved for the guarantee of credit transfer under (CT)². At many schools the person who enters the data and completes the submission is the (CT)² coordinator. The person who holds responsibility for this data entry should proceed to the CEMS site at:

https://atc.regents.ohio.gov/CEMS/login

Be aware that there are two parts to the submission process, including:

(1) Creating the course or program inventory and

(2) Matching instructional content to each learning outcome in the CTAG.

On the CEMS site you will login and create your course/program inventory. This essentially means creating a file in CEMS that contains information about your program. Then you will be asked to match content information about your program to the themes of the CTAN in Education by responding to a series of questions. Be specific as to exactly how you are meeting the learning outcomes/themes for this CTAN. Follow the directions you will find on each screen.
