POST TITLE: Leisure Supervisor DATE AGREED: May 2010

PLACE OF WORK: Based at one of Barnsley Premier Leisure’s (BPL) facilities. Flexibility is essential, if required, to carry out work or duties on any other site operated by BPL.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Facility Manager

RESPONSIBLE FOR: All staff across the agreed job designations that fall under the post holder’s responsibilities and as directed by their Line Manager.

HOLIDAY AND SICKNESS RELIEF: Flexibility is required to cover the absence of other members of the Duty Management Team.

Dependant on the facility a flexible approach is required, as there may be occasions where you need to cover other job positions within existing pay and conditions.

OVERALL OBJECTIVES:

1To manage the day to day operation of the facility in a supervisory capacity.

2To supervise all staff members within agreed job designated areas and ensure the appropriate delegation of tasks.

3To supervise and lead the safe working practices and systems of work throughout the facility.

4To provide, develop and empower other staff members in the delivery of excellent customer service throughout the facility.

DETAILS OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1You will lead and supervise all job designations to ensure customers receive a high quality service at all times.

2You will lead the various staff designations under your agreed responsibility level to ensure the facility operates efficiently, effectively and safely.

3Ensure all staff actively embraces a financial ethos when it comes to housekeeping and that care is always taken of the facility’s fixtures/furnishings and equipment.

4Effective day to day control of energy management along with systems of work and
staff education on how energy consumption is effectively managed throughout the
facility.

5Responsible for ensuring a cohesive system of duty and supervisory control is
evidentthroughout the facilityto ensure a high standard of customer service is
consistently maintained.

6Responsible for a consistent approach in duty handovers and that effective
communication takes place in order to ensure operational information is shared fully
across all job designations under the supervisory remit of the post holder.

7Contribute proactively to ensure that BPL maintains IIP status along with working towards achieving other industry bench marking standards of quality such as Quest.

8Responsible for ensuring all company policies and procedures are followed and to
recognize and bring to line manager’s attention any requirement to review or amend.

9Assist in setting and monitoring agreed budgetary targets.

10Assist in co-ordinating the effective operation of employee working rotas,

authorising timesheets and maintaining records concerning employees; ensuring that
the Employment Policies are adhered to in liaison with the HR Department.

11Assist in the effective induction and training of staff working under your supervision.

12Responsible for the daily maintenance of all plant and equipment, safe working

practices and safety checks andemergency procedures in accordance with the
Health & Safety at Work Act, BPL’sSafety Policy and Codes of Practice including completion of associated documentation.

13To ensure public order in the facility taking action to minimise vandalism and
hooliganism and for the general security of the venue including responding to
emergency call-outs as a nominated key holder.

14Assist BPL in developing its customer service ethos and continuously improving the staff culture in how customer service is developed, viewed and provided.

15Ensure the safe supervision and welfare of all staff based at the facility including
delegation and management of duties performed.

16Ensure an effective line of communication is in place to keep staff members informed.

17Maintain high standards of cleanliness in the facility, to include supervision, audited
checks and facility building tours on shifts.

18Assist and contribute ideas to develop the promotional strategies for the facility.

19Undertake regular audited checks and facility building tours to ensureleaflets,posters

and pricing information is available to customers at the facility in the agreed formats and standards as part of your shift.

20In a supervisory capacity develop strong teams which actively embraces continuous

improvement and enjoy a challenging working environment.

21Assist line managers in the development of quality standards in ensuring every

service and facility is reviewed on an ongoing basis.

23Take responsibility for identifying and pursuing training opportunities to improve knowledge base for developing supervisory functions.

22Become familiar with and take part in training to ensure full knowledge of relevant

acts and legislation relating to the facility operation.

And any other duties commensurate with the grade and falling within the scope of the post, as requested by Management.

POSITION: Leisure Supervisor – Metrodome Leisure Complex

Information to Candidates on Employment Terms and Conditions

The following details outlining some of the main Terms and Conditions of Employment are for information only. They do not constitute a contractual agreement. A full Contract of Employment will be issued to the successful applicant on appointment.

1.Working Hours

The normal hours of work will be 22.5hours per week to be worked to suit the needs of the service which may include evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays

2.HolidaysThere are 20 days annual leave from 1 April to 31 March each year plus 8 Bank Holidays (pro rata for part-time staff). Staff appointed part way through a holiday year will receive a proportionate entitlement.

3.Salary

The rate of pay will beup to £9.06 per hour.

4.Pension

There is eligibility to join the BPL Friends Life Pension Scheme.

  1. Probationary Period

All new appointments are subject to a probationary period of 6 months during which time suitability for the position appointed will be assessed.

6.Notice Period

The notice period that will operate on both sides to terminate the Contract will be one month or, on the employer side, one week for every year of service (to a maximum of 12 weeks) if this is greater.

7.Appointment

Appointments made are subject to satisfactory to the employer of a health clearance, two references and a DBS check.
