School Social Worker
SOAR is a public charter school committed to providing exceptional educational opportunities to students in Far Northeast Denver. SOAR offers a holistic approach to education that includes an academically rigorous curriculum, a mandatory extended school day, and daily enrichment opportunities.

In the 2016 - 2017 school year SOAR will enter its seventh year, serving approximately 450 K-5th grade students.
Reports to: Director of Social Emotional Learning
Hours: Full time, occasional weeknight
Performs all responsibilities in a manner that is reflective of the mission and philosophy of SOAR:
· Provides mental health support to students, small groups, and/or families as needed, both on site and in-home
· Implements, facilitates and champions practices aligned with SOAR’s social and emotional school model (including but not limited to trauma-informed practices)
· Assists in Neurosequential Model of Education (NME) booster creation and facilitation for SOAR staff
· Provides crisis intervention support to students
· Attends and participates professionally in school meetings; meetings include but are not limited to, Child Response Team (CRT), IEP meetings, MTSS, and student support meetings
· Consults and collaborates with students, parents/families, teachers, and other school and community personnel to assist in meeting the social and emotional needs of students
· Develops individualized social and emotional support plans in collaboration with students, parents/families, teachers, and other school and community personnel
· Uses knowledge and understanding of how the home, school, and community influence one another to intervene through such practices as assessment, crisis intervention, home visits, restorative conferencing, individual and group counseling, in consultation with Director of Social and Emotional Learning
· Maintains appropriate data on students to document the effectiveness of student support plans
Qualifications:
· Colorado Department of Education Special Service Provider License preferred
· Experience working in a school setting preferred
· Masters degree, LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) preferred
· Training in/willing to be trained in the Neurosequential Model of Education (NME)
· Willingness to become NME trainer certified (fully trained) by August 1st
· Bilingual strongly preferred
· Exhibits cultural competence and works with a student centered lens
· Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport quickly, facilitating positive relationships across a wide range of constituencies
· Critical, strategic thinking and the capacity to manage multiple priorities
· Must be able to pass criminal background check as required by Denver Public Schools
