Fort Bend County Fair

ALL PARTICIPANTS, JUDGERS/SHOWS REQUIRE A SIGNED PERMISSION SLIP TO PARTICIPATE IN THE FBCF.

For all animal exhibitors who will be showing:

-Students/Participants or approved persons are required to meet teachers at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds to unload and bed down their animals.

-After animals are fed and bedded down properly (in accordance with the Ag. Teacher’ approval) the students will be released.

-All exhibitors or approved persons will be required to return on Saturday October 4th, 2014 at 11:30am (after livestock judging contest) to help load out tack.

-If students want to do clean pen award, they must notify the livestock office prior to the show.

-It is the responsibility of the students to make arrangements for their projects that did not make auction; otherwise animals will be loaded on fisher truck.

-Students with animals at the fairgrounds are expected to feed and care for their animals daily, until their animal is removed from grounds.

-Students are required to clean out pens and surrounding areas, before release forms can be obtained.

Clipping Schedule

-Students with hogs will need dry towels, and oil to apply after clipping.

-Pigs will need to be very clean, and do not allow in the sun.

Thursday September 18th

-If students would like to check out clippers prior to this date please notify AST.

Tuesday September 23rd

-Willis is available (if needed) to help Sift Rabbits for fair after officer meeting around 4pm.

Wednesday September 24th

-Set up

-students and parent volunteers will be asked to meet at the fairgrounds to help set up the tack and pen area for the animals. Pens will be assigned to students by AG Teacher when received, (TENTS WILL BE NEEDED AGAIN).

-AHS FFA SAE Committee chairmen will be responsible for tack needed for their species.

Thursday September 25th

Rabbits:

-Check in time is 6-7pm

-Judging begins @ 7pm.

-Students will be responsible for hauling rabbits to the grounds

-Students may need helper for show (need to double check rules)

Saturday September 27th

Hogs:

-We will begin loading out at 5:30am.

-As the date approaches and we have more information on trailer space you will be informed.

-you will need to transport your own tack, only take what you need, as

Space is limited.

-Students will check in between 5am- 7am in accordance with the fair policy.

Hog feeding schedule:

-After hogs weigh in students are to feed ¼ - 1/2 of their current ration, (Check with Advisor).

-students will then be required to check & water (if hand watering) their hogs every hour-two hours. Due to the heat this needs to be consistent!!!

-around lunch time students will need to feed ¼-1/2 of their current ration, (Check with Advisor).

-Evening feeding students will need to feed ¼-1/2 of their current ration, (Check with Advisor).

**** Students are to report in with Mr. Willis at designated times through out the day, and are not released until told to do so. Please remember that it is very important to check your projects through out the day and keep them as cool as possible. DO NOT GET THEM UP OR STRESS THEM OUT MORE THAN YOU NEED TO!!!

Sunday September 28th

Hogs:

- Students are to report in at the fairground at 6am sharp to clean pens and feed& water, (As directed).

-Students will report in with Mr. Willis at designated times through out

the day.

-Hog Show begins @ 4:00pm

Hog feeding schedule:

-hogs will be checked, and watered (if hand watering) every two hours, after 12pm it will be determined how often students will need to feed and water hogs.

-As we get closer to show time you can always slowly increase their intake amount. You need them to always be hungry.

- Due to the heat this needs to be consistent.

-NON SALE HOGS WILL NOT BE HAULED BACK TO THE BARN BY AG. TEACHERS. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO MAKE SURE YOU HAVE OTHER ARRANGEMENTS; OTHERWISE THE STUDENTS ANIMAL WILL NEED TO BE LOADED ON THE FISHERS TRUCK.

Monday September 29th

Hogs:

Non-placing hogs will check out from 6-7pm. Exhibitor must be present!!!

Lambs:

-Students showing lambs will have an approved absence from school so that they may use this time to clip and prepare their lambs for check in that night. Students will need to report to the barn no later than 7:00 am.

-students must get assignment sheet filled out Wednesday the week before absence.

-we will load and leave the barn @ 4:30pm and head to the fairgrounds

-you will need to transport your own tack, only take what you need.

-students must be at check in from 6-7pm unless arrangements in accordance with the fair have already been made.

Tuesday September 30th

Lambs:

-Students will have an approved absence from school.

-Students are to be at the fairground at 7am to rinse, drench, and feed accordingly.

-Students are to report in with Mr. Willis every 2 hours through out the day.

-Show starts at 6:30pm

Thursday October 1st

-Premium auction

-Might be a good idea to have a gift basket for buyer.

-Students will need to communicate with the livestock office on

details regarding the auction.

Saturday October 4th

-Students competing in the judging contest will need to meet at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds @ 7:00 am for check in. Contest begins at 8:00am.

-Students competing in Livestock Judging will be required to find their own transportation to the contest.

-Student must also have indemnity forms, activity, 7 transportations forms turned in.

-Freezer sale begins @ 12:00pm (communicate with livestock office).

-Judging results @ 12:30pm main ring (contestants are expected to be present unless otherwise instructed by their Ag teacher).

-All animal Exhibitors will help load out tack immediately after judging contest @ 11:30am!!!

Sunday October 5th ,

-8:30am-10:30am livestock check out.

-all exhibitors with animals remaining at the fair grounds are expected to be there for check out.

FFA FBCF Judging travel form

The Stephen F. Austin FFA and FBISD will not provide or guarantee transportation to this judging event. You must provide transportation arrangements both to and from this event for your child. The school district, club, and FFA advisor are exempt from any liability due to it being a voluntary activity.

This form, acknowledges that Stephen F. Austin FFA is not responsible for transportation. This form must be filled out and signed by a parent/guardian and returned to Mr. Willis before the student may participate. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact me.
