The Mind of Christ: Unselfish Minded
Philippians 2: 1-8
INTRODUCTION
To think like Christ is to think in a way that places others first. Today, we must ask ourselves are we spiritually selfish. Today we are going to use the text in John 8:1-11 to see the mind of Christ at work as he unselfishly teaches a lesson on life that Christ followers should understand
I. Christ thought of others FACTUALLY
a. No excuses were offered.
b. Christ-like thinking doesn’t try to justify or rationalize sin.
c. We must never enable others to do wrong even when society says it is okay.
II. Christ thought of others FAITHFULLY
a. Christ looks faithfully into the intent of the scripture to remind us that we all are sinners.
b. He doesn’t see one sin as worse than another.
c. When we see ourselves through the eyes of faith, we are then able to see others in a different way.
III. Christ thought of others FORGIVINGLY
a. The only one who had the right to cast the first stone instead forgives.
b. Is there someone in our life that deserves the first stone?
c. Christ forgiveness is accompanied with an command.
CONCLUSION
In a world of “taking care of number one” as a model, the Christ model is “taking care of others first.” May God help us to have the mind of Christ and “take care of number 2,3,and 4.”
