January 8, 2013—Student from James River High School interned in news for a week—to fulfill a requirement in order to graduate.
February 5, 2013 - April 2013—Student from Virginia Commonwealth University interned in news to gain experience in anchoring, reporting, writing and production.
February 27, 2013—Student from James River High School shadowed in News to learn the process of making a newscast.
March 19, 2013—Student form Colonial Heights High School shadowed in Sports to get hands on experience.
May 2013 – August 2013—Student from University of Oklahoma interned in the Weather Department to learn how to apply what she has learned to making a forecast and learn how to properly present that to the public.
#8 / Ongoing program to expand operators skills by giving hands on training in the areas of Ross OverDrive operation, Audio Operation, Chyron Character Generator operation, and Crispin Master Control Automation operation which provides them with an expanded skill set, thus qualifying for higher level positions.
June 25 –29, 2012 –Dixon Johnston, Creative Services Director attended Promax BDA (Management Seminar/Promotions Conference) in Las Vegas, Nevada.
August 5 – 9, 2012 – Camille Trejo, Web Developer attended Siggraph 2012 Conference in Los Angeles, California, 39th International Conference and Exhibition on Computer Graphics and Interactive Techniques.

December 12, 2012—Matt DiNardo, Meteorologist, visited R.C. Logan Elementary School for their Career Day and spoke with students on his career and how school related to his career and what is needed to get a job in television.
