BROADCAST NOTES*:

Note – all times are AEST

Gallipoli Dawn Service

  1. To allow broadcasters to have a hosted introduction to the Gallipoli Dawn Service the Service will start as follows
    12:30:00Wideshot with natsot water lapping
12:32:00Service commences with the MC welcome
  2. The Service will finishat approximately 13:55 with the dismount of the catafalque party followed by a wideshot with natsot

Villers-Bretonneux (VB), Dawn Service

  1. It is planned that the VB Dawn Service will start at 13:30:00 with a wideshot followed by the bugler sounding “Stand to Arms” and then the MC welcome.
  2. The Service finishes with the public wreath laying which normally starts about 14:25:00.
The host broadcast will continue to cover the public wreath laying which runs for at least 10 minutes – there are multiple opportunities for broadcasters to break away during this time.

What happens if the Gallipoli Dawn Service starts late or long????

To assist broadcasters who plan to broadcast both Services, the following plan is in place if (due to highly unlikely and unforseen events), the Gallipoli Dawn Service is delayed or if it runs past 12:28:

  1. If the Gallipoli Service finishes at or before 13:28:00 the VB Service will start at 13:30:00
  2. If the Gallipoli Service finishes after 13:28:00 but before 13:38:00, the VB Service will be delayed so there is still a (loose), 2.00 minute gap between the services

This 2.00 minute gap is to allow broadcasters to wrap Gallipoli and introduce VB

The 2.00 minute break will be counted in Sydney and VB will be cued to start on a loose cue.

  1. If it is clear the Gallipoli Service will finish after 13:38:00 the VB Service will start at 13:30:00 and broadcasters will either have to join the VB service in progress or use their equipment to delay their playout of the VB Dawn Service.

Lone Pine Service

  1. To allow broadcasters to have a hosted introduction to the Lone Pine Service the Service will start as follows
    18:00:00Wideshot with natsot
18:02:00Service commences with the MC welcome
  2. The Service finishes at approximately 18:50 with the public wreath laying

The host broadcast will continue to cover the public wreath laying which runs for at least 10 minutes – there are multiple opportunities for broadcasters to break away during this time.

If you wish to be advised on any last minute or unforseen changes to broadcast times or that the VB Service is to be delayed and be updated on host broadcast details please contact Julie Adams the ABC Coordinator in Sydney on

Julie will be sending out group emails updating and confirming plans in the days leading up to Anzac Day and importantly across the day.

Due to the complexity of Julie’s role on the day she will most likely not be available on the phone during the broadcast.

*As with all live broadcasts this is the plan but it is subject to unforseen events. Broadcasters need to be flexible enough in their coverage to allow for unforseen and last minute changes.
