Becky Edmiston-Lange, Minister|E-mail:

Dear New Member,

We are overjoyed that you have chosen Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church as your spiritual home. You are now anofficial member of the congregation and your name has been entered into our membership rolls. As a new member, you will, in 90 days, be able to vote in congregational meetings and add your voice to our common endeavors. We are blessed to count you among us. We hope that you will, in turn, feel blessed to be part of our religious community. We look forward to welcoming you formally in our next New Member Recognition Ceremony.

We encourage your active participation in our community life. We think you will discover that the more you become involved, the more meaningful your membership will become. Through participation in our Adult Education programs, our social activities and our service projects, you will deepen your own spiritual journey and strengthen your understanding of our rich religious heritage. We particularly encourage you to attend worship services on a regular basis. Worship is the one time when the whole congregation comes together to celebrate those things we hold most dear and to open ourselves to the call of the spirit. Our minister, Becky Edmiston-Lange, inspires us, guides us through the many changes of life, and challenges us to grow in love, hope, and service to the wider community.

This Membership packet includes several materials pertaining to the benefits and obligations of membership. We hope that you will take the time to look them over. In particular, we call your attention to the included Find Us Online! page with links to pages on our website that will be of particular interest.

A page presenting option for the ways to make your pledge is also included. Emerson Church is dependent upon its members and friends for the financial support needed to maintain our programs, facilities, and staff. Rather than prescribe a contribution, we ask that each member give careful consideration to their level of financial support, taking into account one’s own personal circumstances and the need for sustained giving if our church is to thrive and have an impact on our community. We hope that you will consider your pledge a sign of your belonging, and we thank you in advance for your timely return of your pledge. Every gift is deeply appreciated.

We hope that you already feel valued as part of our religious community and that here you will find many opportunities to grow and develop intellectually, socially, and spiritually.

And, again, welcome!

Membership Committee of Emerson Unitarian Universalist Church
