Issue 1 September 2014

WELCOME BACK! I’m excited to be back after taking two years off to care for my daughter, Mackenzie. She was a micro-preemie born weighing 1 lb 4 oz and had serious health issues. I’m thrilled to be back and teaching fourth grade!

Information about me:

My name is Alison Walsh and I love animals! I live with my husband and daughter in Hamburg with our many animals. We have one dog, Chloe, three cats, Bailey, Meeco, Cooper, and a 20 gallon fish tank with about 15 tropical fish. This will be my seventh year as a teacher here at Holland Elementary. I have taught a variety of grade levels: UPK, first grade, second grade, third grade, and now fourth grade! I graduated from SUNY Fredonia in May 2008 with a Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Childhood Education and English. I recently received my Masters degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and Special Education at SUNY Fredonia in 2014.

Departmentalization:

This year we are doing something new with our content courses. The students will be changing teachers throughout the day:

Mrs. Walsh-Social Studies, Mrs. Winnert-Science, Mr. Karches-Math

Students will be keeping extra supplies in their own individual lockers. These lockers are to help each student stay organized.
