Olmsted- 7

Week of November 14, 2016

Mr. Foster – Social Studies:

We will be examining the “quality of life” of nations in Europe, and begin to explore specific data that can paint a picture of life in other nations. Expect a quiz later in the week.

Ms. Curro – Math:

Math 7- Students will be introduced to and learn how to solve one-step equations involving addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. We will review all of these operations thoroughly throughout the week. We will have a quiz on this material the following Tuesday before Thanksgiving break

Pre-Algebra- Students will continue learning about percent increase and decrease at the beginning of the week. We will also be working with discount, mark-up, commision, and simple interest as the week goes on. Students in pre-algebra will also have a quiz the Tuesday before Thanksgiving break on this material.

Mrs. Pietrucha – Science:

The students in Mrs. Pietrucha’s class will behave like meteorologists and with the use of weather maps and weather data look at two consecutive days and create a prediction of the third day’s weather. They will work cooperatively to create a weather report and weather map that accurately represents their prediction.

Ms. Slavin – Math:

Students in Ms. Slavin’s math class will continue to work on simplifying expressions. They will practice combining like terms and using the distributive property. There is a quiz tentatively scheduled for Friday, 11/18.

Ms. Lijoi – Literacy:

Above & On level: On Monday, students will begin working on planning out their narratives. They will understand how elements of plot can affect one another before they plan out their whole story. Students will choose their main characters and start creating their characteristics as well as pick the setting and conflict which will fuel their plot.

Ms. McMinn – Literacy:Students will continue to brainstorm for their short stories with an emphasis on character development and conflict. Students will also think about and research the genre of their potential story, as this will drive some of the plot.

Ms. Heiser–Algebra:Students will continue to work on graphing linear equations this week. Student will work on graphing equations in slope-intercept form and standard form. There is a quiz tentatively scheduled for Friday 11/18 on graphing equations in slope-intercept form and standard form.

Mrs. Podolak – French: Grade 7 French students will conclude their lesson on conjugating "-er" verbs and discussing what people do and do not do. Their Google Classroom "Message Illustre" project is due onTuesday 11/15and the Test on Lecon 7 will be on Friday. For more details, please refer to my webpage. I will be available for helpMonday, Tuesday and Thursday after school.
