Public Service Announcement

(optional announcement for all Gymnastics Ontario Qualifiers and Championships)

Gymnastics is an attractive and essential part of the development of basic athletic skills. In essence it is the foundation of all sport and recreational activities.

Gymnastics Ontario is pleased to partner with (Club Name) in hosting this 2015-2016(Name of Event).

Events such as these build on the basic foundations and provide a showcase opportunity to highlight our talented athletes, coaches and officials.

Sample Announcements

#1"There will now be a short break so that the athletes can warm up for the next rotation. Competition will resume in 5 minutes."

#2"We will now be taking a half hour break for lunch. Coffee, food and refreshments are available in the cafeteria just outside the gymnasium doors. Competition will resume promptly at 1:00 p.m."

#3"On behalf of the athletes we ask that everyone in the audience refrain from using flash photography. The bright flash momentarily blinds the athletes and impairs their ability to see the apparatus. Thank you."

#4[RG specific] "Just a reminder to everyone in the audience, if at any time a gymnast loses her apparatus and it travels towards you, DO NOT TOUCH the apparatus. The gymnast will be deducted if you assist her in any way. Thank you."

Sample Opening Ceremonies Script (applicable to any discipline)

"Ladies and gentlemen, boys and girls, welcome to North Bay and the sport of Rhythmic Gymnastics. The (Host Club) organizing committee is proud to host the 2014 Discount Car and Truck Rental Novice Ontario Championships and Ontario Winter Games. For the rest of today you will be able to watch the performances of some of Ontario's most talented and rising stars".

Please join me in welcoming the athletes and judges as we begin the opening ceremonies."

March-In and Introduce by Club
On behalf of Gymnastics Ontario and (Host Club) we would like to congratulate all the athletes on qualifying to Ontario Championships and wish you all the very best for a safe competition.
  • Please rise for playing of our national anthem (O’Canada music) – 1st flight of each day only
  • At this time, we would like to take this opportunity to thank all the athletes, parents, coaches, and volunteers for their dedication to the sport of gymnastics. Without all of your hard work, competitions like this would not be possible.
  • Could all coaches please come to (specified area) for a brief Coaches Meeting
  • The athletes may begin their 15 minute general warm up

End of Warm-Up / Announce for all athletes to proceed to their first apparatus.
For each floor routine / Announce each athlete’s name and club after the judges give the “signal” for the athlete to proceed.
Please note that if this process takes too long the names do not have to be announced.
When there are 6 athletes (12 athletes if shared floor) left to compete on floor /
  • Announce “All athletes for Session ___ (next session) are to assemble for march in under the (Score Board) immediately”
  • The timing here will depend on your competition schedule.

End of competition
When cued- /
  • This concludes Session ___. Congratulations to all the athletes. All athletes from Session __(next session) are asked to collect their belongings and go immediately go to (right side athlete corale opposite the score board to assemble for the awards march in). For your event you may just ask the athletes and parents to move to the awards area.
  • Thank you in advance for your patience as the results are tabulated.
  • The awards ceremony will take place in the ______room, please follow the signs.
  • All coaches are to pick up their athletes music from the announcers table.
  • A coach from each club participating in Session ___ is asked to meet the Women’s Program Manager by the ______area for scoring verification.
