These examples of a painted paragraph were written in March by a 5th grade class. Students worked with a partner to write their paragraph.

The King Penguin

The King Penguin has many adaptations to help it survive in the icy land. The King Penguin has many adaptations to help it catch prey. Its powerful stubby-like wings propel it threw the water and the feel help steer him/her. The mother and father both play important parts in the role of parentage. The male penguin warms the egg, while the female catches food for the family. The King Penguin may seem small but it is a lot more powerful than you think. For example: it can dive up to 200 feet when it is hunting. The beak is also shaped for catching prey. These adaptations make the King Penguins life easier in surviving.

American Badger

The American Badger Has many adaptations to help it survive in the wild. It has many physical adaptations that provide the Badger a strong body. Some animals bigger than the badger are still afraid to approach it because the Badger has strong claws, and very strong jaws.

It is smart and knows how to locate and attack its prey. The badgers strong nose help it locate it’s prey while the hairs on their body help them blend in so they can sneak up. That is where their strong jaws and claws come in handy. Since the American Badger is a smaller animal, it has to know how to survive in the wild against bigger animals. It has to know how to defend itself and look fierce and intimidating so the larger animals won’t bother it. Now that you know about the American Badger, you can see how it survives in the wild.

During a dive their pulse beats 170 beats per minute. small ears and nostrils are closed tight when in water. Because it dose NOT like get water in ears and nostrals.
