Locust Grove High School Agriscience Department

Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) Project Contract

Student: ______Date: ______

Guidelines/Rules:

Every student enrolled in an agriculture class is required to complete an SAE project.

SAE projects must relate to agriculture in some way.

SAE projects must be worked on outside of class time. The only exception will be on days determined by the instructor. During this time, students will be expected to work on their SAE recordbook and may get help from the instructor.

If necessary, students may arrange to use the agriculture program facilities and equipment before or after school, not during class time. Students must schedule a specific time with the instructor in advance.

Students may receive outside assistance (family members, friends, etc.) with their project but still must do the actual work themselves.

Students may work together in pairs on a project if each student has an equal part in completing the project and if each student provides his/her own documentation and presentation.

We will have after school SAE workdays once every two weeks. These are great days to get hours of work or to get help with your recordbook!

Expectations:

Turn in a project that reflects the highest quality of his or her ability

Complete each phase of the project as outlined by the checkpoint timeline

Use the provided recordbook to keep records.

Produce original work completed by the student themselves

Provide a parent or supervisor signature to certify authenticity of time worked. (see timesheet)

Document all activities, hours, and expenses/income that relate to the SAE

Spend a minimum of 20 hours on the SAE project, but the more time you spend the better—you may win money for your efforts! (Due dates for time are outlined in this packet)

Turn in a completed project and completed recordbook (printed) by the deadline. I DO NOT ACCEPT LATE PROJECTS

Present the SAE project to the class on the assigned day at the end of the semester

Grading:

SAE Projects count as 15% of the overall grade at the end of each semester. Checkpoint grades will be taken throughout the year on the indicated dates, and this will serve as an indicator of progress. These grades will be updated and may change as the semester progresses. Projects will be graded on completeness, accuracy, and timeliness of each part of the recordbook and the quality of the final project.

Timeline:

SAE project progress will be evaluated throughout the year as outlined in this packet and graded according to the expectations for that checkpoint.
